2 2 St Audries Musicians' Week Dear Musician, St Audries 2014 Notes for Musicians Thank you for joining us at St Audries Bay Holiday Club 2014 This year we will play all sorts of music but continue to focus on our main interest in folk dance music Our programme provides for four workshops per day Wednesday afternoon will be free time with no activities scheduled Evenings will involve more activities, from music sessions to various kinds of dance events Our quiz evening will be on Tuesday so that the local Folk Dance Club can join us for the first night of their winter season on the Wednesday We hope that you will join in with the playing and dancing in the evenings to get more of a feel for how music and movement interact On Friday we will have a concert in the evening so, if you want to take part (I hope you will), please think about what you could do to entertain the rest of us Please bring with you anything you need for the concert it does not have to be musical, in the past we have had many musical items but also poetry, plays and many other amusing acts You don t have to perform on your own, either, there are always people willing to join in and help If you want to write arrangements to go with the music in the pad, please do but please make sure that the harmony follows the chord structure written below the stave The music is written in Sibelius 7 If you want the original files, please contact me by (details below) and I will give you access to a zipped archive of the music Note that earlier versions of Sibelius will not be able to open Sibelius 7 files I will also make the tunes available in midi format so that you can listen to them on your computer or perhaps open them in another music-writing application Contact me if you would like the midi files You are welcome to record any of the workshop music for your own use only If you want to record (including video) anything for public use, eg, YouTube, please obtain the permission of those involved I will continue to place late-breaking news about the week on my website so please visit it to keep up to date with the latest information Please remember to bring your instruments, this music, a music stand, pencil, eraser and pencil sharpener plus anything else you may need to make music or entertainment during the week Please contact me if you have any questions about the music or programme for the week For any domestic arrangements, please contact St Audries Bay Holiday Club directly Maggie, Poppy and I are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, hopefully in time for our wine reception from about 40 pm Best regards, Rod ; rod@rodstradlingcom website; telephone; snail mail; 12, Broadlands Rise, Lichfield, Staffordshire WS14 9SF Daily schedule Wednesday afternoon free time Friday afternoon no Workshop 4 Workshop 1; 90 to 1045 Workshop 2; 1115 to 120 Workshop 4; 45 to 500 Lunch Dinner Workshop ; 200 to 15 Evening; 800 to Music for tuition purposes only 2
