She doesn t have any boxes left. It is late on Christmas Eve and all the stores are closed. She decides to make a box (with no lid) out of a 4 cm by 4 cm square sheet of cardboard. She cuts a square from each corner of the sheet so that she can fold up the sides to make her box. What is the volume of the largest possible box that Nina can make? What s the length of the side of the square she cuts from each corner? (b) Find the linear approximation of f(x) = sin(x) cos(x) at x = π. Use this approximation to estimate the value of f(π +.).

7 5. (a) Sodium chlorate crystals are easy to grow in the shape of cubes by allowing a solution of water and sodium chlorate to evaporate slowly.
