1 Warrnambool College Maths Methods Unit & 0 Unit Topics: Linear functions Quadratic functions Cubic functions Eponential & logarithmic functions Functions & relations Unit Topics: Circular functions Differentiation Matrices Probabilit Combinatorics Assessment tasks There will be a test for each of these topics. Students are allowed to bring their workbooks into the test (with notes & questions). CAS calculators can be used in most tests, although some will have a calculator free component. Tests will contribute 80% of the mark for each topic area. 0% of the mark for each topic will come from having completed the set Khan Academ tasks. Each semester there will be one problem solving / project task and eam. Semester reports will include a grade for each topic test, as well as the semester eam and problem solving task.. At Warrnambool College students will have met the outcomes for a unit if the: achieve 0% or better on all topics. complete the set class work and completed the relevant revision work. complete the problem solving / project task. attend at least 80% of classes.

2 Maths Methods Blog Page To give students the opportunit to learn the concepts and work through at their own pace, podcast videos and printed notes for all topic areas have been prepared. These are all available on the school network and the podcast videos can be accessed freel through the itunes store (Maths Methods Podcast: itpc://mathsmethods.podomatic.com/rss.ml) or the blog site. The blog site is also available for students to download these materials, as well as eam revision, worksheets, Khan Academ links etc. All students will be given a username & password to contribute to the site. Students can also post questions and answer other students questions. It is epected that all students will have obtained these before resources in advance of the topic and are watching / reading as part of a regular homework routine. This preparation will allow students to better use the class time to work on problems and clarif an difficulties. Khan Academ The Khan Academ website provides video tutorials and eercises in all areas of mathematics. All students will be able to sign into the Khan Academ using their Warrnambool College GMail account. (Please make our username our full name for identification.) Class teachers (vincent.justin.t@edumail.vic.gov.au or twitt.greg.c@edumail.vic.gov.au ) need to be added as coaches. CAS calculators It is presumed that all students will have a CAS calculator for class and assessment tasks. Some of the assessment tasks will require the use of the calculator, for other tasks it will be of assistance. The essential skills that students will need for the start of the ear include: Ke operations Saving documents Navigating through multiple tabs Drawing graphs Finding values from equations Solving equations Tet book It is epected that all students will have a current (third edition) or the previous edition of the tet book: MathsQuest Mathematical Methods CAS and separate CAS calculator guide. (These have blue covers). Older (brown covered) editions are not advised.
