Consrucion of Liouville Brownian moion via Dirichle form heory Jiyong Shin arxiv: v [mah.pr] 23 Jan 209 Absrac. The Liouville Brownian moion which was inroduced in [3] is a naural diffusion process associaed wih a random meric in wo dimensional Liouville quanum graviy. In his paper we consruc he Liouville Brownian moion via Dirichle form heory. By showing ha he Liouville measure is smooh in he sric sense, he posiive coninuous addiive funcional (F ) 0 of he Liouville measure in he sric sense w.r.. he planar Brownian moion (B ) 0 is obained. Then he Liouville Brownian moion can be defined as a ime changed process of he planar Brownian moion B F. 200 Mahemaics Subjec Classificaion: Primary 3C25, 60J60, 60J45; Secondary 3C5, 60G5, 60H20. Key words: Dirichle forms, Liouville Brownian moion, Gaussian free field, Gaussian muliplicaive chaos, Revuz correspondence Inroducion In [3] C. Garban, R. Rhodes, V. Vargas consruced he Liouville Brownian moion (hereafer LBM) which is a canonical diffusion process in planar Liouville quanum graviy. By classical heory of Gaussian muliplicaive chaos (cf. [5]), he Liouville measure M γ,γ (0, 2) (see Secion 2.2) is formally defined as M γ (dz)=exp ( γx(z) γ2 2 E[X(z)2 ] ) dz, where X is a massive Gaussian free field on on a probabiliy space (Ω,A, P) and dz is he Lebesgue measure on. By consrucing he posiive coninuous addiive funcional (A ) 0 of a Brownian moion (W ) 0 w.r.. he Liouville measure M γ, he Liouville Brownian moion is defined as W A. Subsequenly, he hea kernel esimaes and Dirichle forms associaed wih he LBM were invesigaed in [4] and []. In his shor paper, we are concerned wih consrucing he Liouville Brownian moion via Dirichle form heory. I is known from [4] and [2] ha he LBM is associaed wih he Liouville Dirichle form. Therefore i is a naural quesion if one can consruc he Liouville Brownian moion in view of Dirichle form heory [2] (cf. [4, Secion.4]). In general here is no heory of Dirichle forms which enables o ge rid of he polar se and consruc a Hun process saring from all poins of. Recenly, using ellipic regulariy resuls only n-regularized Liouville Brownian moion was consruced via Dirichle form heory (see [7]). This approach, however, can no be applied o consruc he LBM since he massive Gaussian free field is no a funcion. In principle our consrucion of LBM is based on he observaion of power law decay of he size of balls of he Liouville measure and Proposiion 3.4. By Lemma 3. and Proposiion 3.4 we can show ha M γ S (see Secion 2. for he definiion of S ). Therefore here exiss a posiive coninuous addiive funcional (F ) 0 in he sric sense of he planar Brownian moion (B ) 0
w.r.. M γ by Revuz correspondence (see [2, Theorem 5..7]). Then he Liouville Brownian moion can be defined as B F. Noaions: We denoe he se of all Borel measurable funcions and he se of all bounded Borel measurable funcions on byb( ) andb b ( ), respecively. The usual L q -spaces L q (, dx), q [, ] are equipped wih L q -norm L q (,dx) wih respec o he Lebesgue measure dx on anda b :=A B b ( ) fora L q (, dx). The inner produc on L 2 (, dx) is denoed by (, ) L 2 (,dx). The indicaor funcion of a se A is denoed by A. Le f := ( f,..., d f ) and f := d j= j j f where j f is he j-h weak parial derivaive of f and j j f := j ( j f ), j=,...,d. The Sobolev space H,q (, dx), q is defined o be he se of all funcions f L q (, dx) such ha j f L q (, dx), j=,...,d, and H,q loc (R2, dx) :={ f f ϕ H,q (U, dx), ϕ C 0 (U)}. Here C 0 (R2 ) denoes he se of all infiniely differeniable funcions wih compac suppor in. We also denoe he se of coninuous funcions on and he se of compacly suppored coninuous funcions on by C( ) and C 0 ( ), respecively. We equip wih he Euclidean norm and he corresponding inner produc,. 2 Preliminary 2. Dirichle form heory In his subsecion we presen some definiions and properies in Dirichle form heory as saed in [2]. Le E( f, g) := f, g dx, 2 where f, g D(E)={ f L 2 (, dx) f L 2 (, dx)}. Le ((B ) 0, (P x ) x ) be he planar Brownian moion associaed o he Dirichle form (E, D(E)). A posiive Radon measureµon is said o be of finie energy inegral if f (x) µ(dx) c E ( f, f ), f D(E) C 0 ( ), where c is some consan independen of f ande (, ) :=E(, )+(, ) L 2 (,dx). A posiive Radon measureµon is of finie energy inegral if and only if here exiss a unique funcion U µ D(E) such ha E (U µ, f )= f (x)µ(dx), for all f D(E) C 0 ( ). U µ is called -poenial ofµ. For any se A he capaciy of A is defined as Cap(A)= inf open B A B inf f D(E) B f dx-a.e. E ( f, f ). We denoe by p (x, y) he ransiion kernel densiy of (B ) 0. Taking he Laplace ransform of p (x, y), we see ha here exiss ab( ) B( ) measurable non-negaive map r (x, y) such ha R f (x) := r (x, y) f (y) dy x, f B b ( ). 2
The densiy r (x, y) is called he resolven kernel densiy. For a signed Radon measureµon, le us define R µ(x)= r (x, y)µ(dy), x, whenever his makes sense. In paricular, R µ is a version of U µ (see e.g. [2, Exercise 4.2.2]). The family of he measures of finie energy inegral is denoed by S 0. We furher define S 00 := {µ S 0 µ( )<, U µ L (,dx) < }. A posiive Borel measureµon is said o be smooh in he sric sense if here exiss a sequence (E k ) k of Borel ses increasing o such ha Ek µ S 00 for each k and P x (lim k σ \E k ζ)=, x, whereζ is he lifeime of (B ) 0. The oaliy of he smooh measures in he sric sense is denoed by S (see [2]). Ifµ S, hen here exiss a unique A A + c, wihµ=µ A, i.e.µ is he Revuz measure of A (see [2, Theorem 5..7]), where A + c, denoes he family of he posiive coninuous addiive funcionals on in he sric sense. 2.2 Massive Gaussian free field and Liouville measure The massive Gaussian free field on is a cenered Gaussian random disribuion (in he sense of Schwarz) on a probabiliy space (Ω, A, P) wih covariance funcion given by he Green funcion G (m) of he operaor m 2, m>0, i.e. (m 2 )G (m) (x, )=2πδ x, x, whereδ x sands for he Dirac mass a x. The massive Green funcion wih he operaor (m 2 ) can be wrien as G (m) (x, y)= e m2 ds 2 s x y 2 2s 0 2s = k m (s(x y)) ds, x, y, s where k m (z)= e m2 2s z 2 2 s ds. 2 0 Noe ha his massive Green funcion is a kernel ofσ-posiive ype in he sense of Kahane [5] since we inegrae a coninuous funcion of posiive ype w.r.. a posiive measure. Le (c n ) n be an unbounded sricly increasing sequence such ha c = and (Y n ) n be a family of independen cenered coninuous Gaussian fields on on he probabiliy space (Ω,A, P) wih covariance kernel given by E[Y n (x) Y n (y)]= cn c n k m (s(x y)) ds. s The massive Gaussian free field is he Gaussian disribuion defined by X(x)= Y k (x). We define n-regularized field by X n (x)= k n Y k (x), n k= 3
and he associaed n-regularized Liouville measure by M n,γ (dz)=exp ( γx n (z) γ2 2 E[X n(z) 2 ] ) dz, γ (0, 2). By he classical heory of Gaussian muliplicaive chaos (see [5]), P-a.s. he family (M n,γ ) n weakly converges o he measure M γ, which is called Liouville measure. I is known from [5] ha M γ is a Radon measure on and has full suppor. 3 Liouville Brownian moion via Dirichle form heory In his secion we show ha he LBM can be consruced in he framework of [2]. The following lemma is a direc consequence of [3, Proposiion 2.3]: Lemma 3.. Almos surely in X, he mapping x log + M γ (dy) x y is coninuous on where log + a := max{log a, 0}. The esimaes of resolven kernel densiy of he planar Brownian moion (B ) 0 are well known: Lemma 3.2. For any x, y where c, c 2 > 0 are some consans. r (x, y) c log + x y + c 2, Lemma 3.3. Almos surely in X, for any relaively compac open se G, G M γ S 0. Proof. Noe ha by Lemma 3. and Lemma 3.2 r (x, y) M γ (dy) M γ (dx)<. G G Hence G M γ S 0 by [2, Example 4.2.2] Now we resae [8, Proposiion 2.3] in our seing, which is a main ingredien o consruc he LBM: Proposiion 3.4. Leµbe a posiive Radon measure on. Suppose ha for some relaively compac open se G, G µ S 0 and R ( G µ) is bounded dx-a.e. by a coninuous funcion r G C(R2 ). Then G µ S 00. In paricular, if his holds for any relaively compac open se G, henµ S. Theorem 3.5. Almos surely in X, he Liouville measure M γ S. 4
Proof. Le (E k ) k be an increasing sequence of relaively compac open ses wih k E k =. Since M γ is a Radon measure, Ek M γ ( )<. For any x ( ) R ( Ek M γ )(x) = r (x, y) M γ (dy) c log + E k E k x y + c 2 M γ (dy) c log + M γ (dy)+c k, (3.) x y where c k = c 2 M γ (E k ). By Lemma 3., he righ hand side of (3.) is coninuous on. Therefore by Proposiion 3.4, M γ S. Therefore by [2, Thorem 5..7] here exiss a posiive coninuous addiive funcional (F ) 0 of he Brownian moion (B ) 0 in he sric sense w.r.. M γ. Finally he LBM can be defined as B = B F, 0, where F := inf{s>0 F s > }. As a by-produc of our approach, we can direcly obain ha he Liouville measure M γ charges no se of zero capaciy (see [4, Lemma.5]). Corollary 3.6. Le (E k ) k be an increasing sequnce of relaively compac open ses wih k E k =. Supposeµ S wih respec o he sequence of he ses (E k ) k. Thenµdoes no charge capaciy zero ses. In paricular, M γ charges no se of zero capaciy. Proof. Noe ha by [2, Lemma 2.2.3], Ek µcharges no se of zero capaciy (see Lemma 3.3). Suppose N be an open se such ha Cap(N)=0. Then he saemen follows from µ(n) µ( Ek N)=0. k Remark 3.7. (i) Noe ha he suppor and quasi suppor of M γ is he whole space (see [4]). Since M γ charges no se of zero capaciy, he LBM is associaed o he Liouville Dirichle form E( f, g)= f, g dx, f, g F, 2 wheref={ f L 2 (, M γ ) H,2 loc (R2, dx) f L 2 (, dx)} (see [2]). (ii) The LBM a criicaliy (i.e. γ = 2) was inroduced in [6]. In his case our approach can no be applied o consruc he LBM a criicaliy since he coninuous mapping as in Lemma 3. for he Liouville measure a criicaliy can no be obained. References [] S. Andres, N.
