2 Teaching Presently, course Numerical Methods, Université Libre de Bruxelles. Research Interests Iterative methods for large sparse linear systems: (Algebraic) multigrid and multilevel methods; Krylov subspace methods; Preconditioning; Parallel implementation. Iterative methods for large eigenvalue problems. Developed software AGMG ( is a linear system solver package. It implements an aggregationbased algebraic multigrid method which is efficient for large systems arising from the discretization of scalar second order elliptic PDEs. The solver is however purely algebraic and may be tested on any problem. No information has to be supplied besides the system matrix and the right-hand-side. AGMG has several hundreds users worldwide, both in academia and industry. JADAMILU ( is a Fortran 77 program to compute selected eigenvalues and associated eigenvectors of large scale real symmetric or complex Hermitian matrices. Generalized eigenvalue problems with positive definite mass matrix can also be solved. JADAMILU is a joint project with Matthias Bollhöfer, TU Braunschweig. Membership to Editorial Boards SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing ( (two three year terms)) Numerical Linear Algebra with Applications ( ) Applied Numerical Mathematics (Since March 2010) Conference organization Core organizer of the twelfth European Multigrid Conference, Leuven (Belgium), September 9-12, 2014 Involved in the program committee of several international conferences PhD students Maxime Havet, Université Libre de Bruxelles (graduated October 2008) Artem Napov, Université Libre de Bruxelles (graduated February 2010) Julien Callant, Université Libre de Bruxelles (graduated December 2012) Pierre-Loc Bacq, Université Libre de Bruxelles (2017 present) 2
