1 SBI Probationery Officers QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE Mensuration (Plane Figures) Mensuration is one of the branches of mathematics. This means measurement. It is being done in our life in many situations. Here, we cover three areas, Perimeter, Area and Volume. To find these things we have to remember the formulae of plane figures and solid figures. Try to understand the concept behind reaching the formula. Triangle: If a, b and c are the lengths of the sides of a triangle, Area = s(s a)(s b)(s c) a + b + c Where s = 3 Area of equilateral triangle = (side) 4 b Area of an isosceles triangle = 4a b 4 1 Area of a right angled triangle = base height Square: Area = side Perimeter = 4 side Rectangle: Area = length breadth Perimeter = (length + breadth) Rhombus: 1 Area = d 1 d Perimeter = 4(d 1 + d ) d 1, d = diagonals Parallelogram: Area = b h b = base, h = perpendicular height Trapezium: 1 Area = h (a + b) h = perpendicular height a, b = parallel sides R
