Research summary: The main goal of the LHC experiments is to hunt the Higgs boson, the key ingredient of Higgs mechanism, to generate the fermion as well as the heavy gauge boson masses in the Standard Model (SM). In SM the left-handed neutrino is massless, and, as a matter of fact there is no right-handed counterpart. However, different neutrino experiments have acquired enough data to prove that neutrinos are massive, albeit tiny. The easiest way to generate neutrino mass is the seesaw mechanism. In many seesaw model, the main role is played by a heavy right-handed Majorana neutrino. This also appear in other scenario of new physics as well. Currently, I have been studying the collider signature of heavy Majorana neutrino at LHC. Besides that, from other neutrino experiments, like MINOS, T2K, now there is strong evidence infavour of thethirdmixingangle, namely, θ 13 tobenon-zero. Iamcurrently alsostudyingsome new physics model to apply on the new results on the lepton flavour violation sector, namely, µ eγ etc, as well as to explain the non-zero value of the third mixing angles. Recently, I have worked on the collider signature of the physics of universal extra-dimension. I have discussed the production of heavy Kaluza-Klein (KK) electroweak gauge bosons along with heavy quarks. The prospects of LHC in this direction is discussed with center of mass energy at 10 TeV as well as 14 TeV. I have also exhibited the integrated luminosity required to obtain a 5σ signal as function of different parameters of the model. 2
3 In another recent work of collider physics I have explored the discovery potential of doubly charged Higgs boson at LHC. To be specific, for a mass range of GeV for the doubly charged Higgs scalar, the like-sign dilepton signal can be detected at LHC at a center of mass energy 14 TeV with an integrated luminosity, say, 30fb 1. The same analysis is also performed with 7 TeV and 10 TeV center of mass energy cases. During the period of my doctoral work, I have worked on different aspects of new physics Beyond the Standard Model, e.g. Grand Unified Theory, Extra-Dimensions, Supersymmetry etc. In summary, I have explored the power law running of different coupling constants in presence of the TeV scale extra dimensions. How presence of the KK-excited mode of different SM-particles will effect the running of gauge as well as Yukawa couplings are discussed. At the tree level of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model(MSSM), the lightest neutral Higgs is lighter than the Z boson mass. However, due to the radiative correction at the one loop level, this bound is relaxed till 135 GeV. This saved MSSM, besides the non-observation of any neutral Higgs at the LEP experiment. I have in one project addressed the same question, and discussed how far the bound on the neutral Higgs mass could be relaxed when different KK-excited mode will appear in the loop in both five and six dimensional scenarios. I have also found distinct ways to lower the intermediate scale in the left-right supersymmetric SO(10) Grand Unified theory to explain leptogenesis as well as light left-handed neutrino masses. This way, the intermediate scale and corresponding gauge bosons will be accessible at LHC and hence the subsequent phenomenology will be discussed. I have also estimated pentaquark masses with a proper incorporation of colour-spin symmetry for the triquark state. Teaching summary: I have very recently joined as Assistant Professor in Physics with the BITS, Pilani, Goa campus. During this short period I have taught some part of the advance topic of particle physics and perform some laboratory duties. In the coming semester I have planned to teach the introductory course on Mechanics, Oscillations and Wave and some advanced topic on the course of Quantum Field Theory and will have some laboratory duties as well. I have also delivered some lectures on the topic of the introduction of particle physics. 3
