1 Advanced Materials Research Online: ISSN: , Vols , pp doi: / Trans Tech blications, Switzerland Stdy of Correlation on Unconfined Compressive Strength Between Different Soil ZHAO Xia College of Civil Engineering and Architectre, Gizho University, Giyang , China Keywords: silty clay; clay; nconfined compressive strength; correlation between Abstract: Take the silty clay and clay as the research object, the correlation between blk density, moistre content, cohesion, friction angle and nconfined compressive strength was analyzed sing laboratory tests, and the reslts showed that soil cohesion, friction angle and nconfined compressive strength with good correlation, the correlation coefficients were all above 0.9, while severe and soil moistre content and nconfined compressive strength of correlation is weak, followed by the correlation formlas of the index and nconfined compressive strength were established, these formlas can sed to predict the nconfined compressive strength of soil. Introdction As an important indicator of soil, nconfined compressive strength are often sed to examine the effect of improved soil improvement, cement soil, limestone soil, etc. [1-4]. As Ch ChengF [5-8] and other stdies of different water-cement ratio, moistre content and other indicators on different nconfined compressive strength. Withot lateral compressive strength can also be sed with other indicators comparing comparison prpose is to establish the relationship between the different indicators, sed to predict soil strength index, or index to test the correctness of soil strength sch as Lisa Wong stdy [7] stdied the soil nconfined compressive strength and in sit vane shear strength of correlation and analysis of soil depth and no lateral compressive strength relationships obtained vane shear shear strength is 0.8 times withot lateral compressive strength. This article take silty clay, clay for the stdy, monitoring their severe, cohesion, friction angle and other indicators, then these indicators and soil nconfined compressive strength comparisons and establish correlation formla, in order to facilitate soil strength prediction or estimate. Description ofthe sample The soil samples sed for the drilling test sampleis divided into silty clay, clay are two sample taken dring the experiment for testing soil shear strength index, and then take the cylindrical samples for testing soil withot side, spoil sed to test the soil and moistre severe.test soil samples as follows: Silty clay layer: gray, pale yellow, soft plastic - plastic, no shaking response, ct slightly shiny, dry medim strength, toghness medim. Containing a small amont of mica, high levels of local silty, medim compression. Natre of the works in general. Clay layers: ale yellow, plastic-like, withot shaking the reaction, ct smooth, dry medim strength, high toghness in ~. Inclding tberclosis and rst, compact strctre, medim compression. Overall good engineering properties. Test Reslts Test apparats shown in Figre 1, the test reslts shown in Table 1, Table sample No.1 to 10 is a silty clay samples, No.11 to 20 is a clay sample, the test reslts from the two bits of soil density were located in 16~20KN/m3, moistre content and more in the 15% to 24% between cohesion 18Ka ~ 40 ka were located between the friction angle were located between 14 0 ~ 24 0, never nconfined compressive strength test reslts, silty clay nconfined compressive strength at 40~140ka between the clay is located at 60 ~ 180ka, described in this sample, clay nconfined compressive strength greater than silty clays. 2 Advanced Materials Research Vols Correlation analysis When performing correlation analysis, the main analysis table index vale and other nconfined compressive strength of the relationship, and the degree of soil weight, moistre content, cohesion, friction angle with relation to analyze separately the silty clay and clay comparison, becase the two kinds of soil there are differences in the natre of the works. 3.1 silty clayanalysis Figre 2-5 Test reslts for the silty clay, the figre by exponential fitting severe, cohesion, friction angle and nconfined compressive strength of the relationship between the moistre content of a qadratic polynomial with nconfined compressive strength of the relationship between the optimm moistre content similar to compaction crve. From the fitting reslts, high precision, in which severe, moistre content, cohesion, friction angle fitting correlation coefficients were , , , , inclding cohesion, friction angle and nconfined significantly higher correlation strength severe and moistre content. Description can soil cohesion and friction angle size estimates soil nconfined compressive strength vales. Which cohesion and the relationship between nconfined compressive strength formla is: C = 18.25e (1) is the nconfined compressive strength, C is soil cohesion. Friction angle and nconfined compressive strength of the relationship between the formla: ϕ = 18.25e (2) is the nconfined compressive strength, ϕ is soil friction angle
3 928 Civil, Strctral and Environmental Engineering. 3.2 Analysis of the reslts of clay Figre 6-9 is a clay sample test reslts from the relationship crve, similar test reslts with silty clay, in which severe, moistre content, cohesion, friction angle and nconfined compressive strength of correlation coefficients were ,0.8170,0.9316, is still cohesion, friction angle and nconfined compressive strength of greater relevance. Its relationship formla were: C =24.562e (3) ϕ = e (4) is the nconfined compressive strength, C is soil cohesion. ϕ is soil friction angle.
4 Advanced Materials Research Vols Conclsion By silty clay, clay nconfined compressive strength of its physical and mechanical parameters test analysis, yo can get the following nderstanding: (1) the physical and mechanical properties and nconfined compressive strength of the correlation between moderate to severe, cohesion, friction angle and nconfined compressive strength of the relationship can be exponential fitting, moistre resistance and nconfined compressive strength of relationship can be fitted with a qadratic polynomial. (2) view from the correlation coefficient, soil cohesion, friction angle and nconfined compressive strength greater than the correlation nit weight of soil, moistre content. (3) we draw the nconfined compressive strength and cohesion, friction angle of soil physical relationship formla can be sed to estimate parameters of the preliminary work.
