The winners of the 2016 Highly Cited Paper Award 1 Characteristics and origin of abnormally high porosity zones in buried Paleogene clastic reservoirs in the Shengtuo area, Dongying Sag, East China Cao Yingchang, Yuan Guanghui, Li Xiaoyan, Wang Yanzhong, Xi Kelai, Wang Xiaoming, Jia Zhenzhen, Yang Tian 2014, Vol.11, No.3 author Cao Yingchang is a professor at China University of Petroleum. His research interests lie in the fields of sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, reservoir geology and unconventional oil and gas geology. 2 Variation and mechanisms of clastic reservoir quality in the Paleogene Shahejie Formation of the Dongying Sag, Bohai Bay Basin, China Zhang Qin, Zhu Xiaomin, Ronald J Steel, Zhong Dakang 2014, Vol.11, No.2 author Zhang Qin is an associate professor at College of Geosciences, China University of Petroleum, Beijing. She is engaged in the research and teaching on sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and reservoir geology. 3 Effects of alternating current interference on corrosion of X60 pipeline steel Yan-Bao Guo, Cheng Liu, De-Guo Wang, Shu-Hai Liu 2015, Vol.12, No.2 author Yan-Bao Guo is currently an associate professor with the Mechatronics Engineering, College of Mechanical and Transportation Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Process Fluid Filtration and Separation, China University of Petroleum. His main research interests include basic and applied research of mechatronics, corrosion prevention and surface engineering for oil/gas exploration and transportation. 4 Mechanism of diagenetic trap formation in nearshore subaqueous fans on steep rift lacustrine basin slopes-a case study from the Shahejie Formation on the north slope of the Minfeng Subsag, Bohai Basin, China Wang Yanzhong, Cao Yingchang, Ma Benben, Liu Huimin, Gao Yongjin, Chen Lin 2014, Vol.11, No.4 author Wang Yanzhong is an associate professor at School of Geosciences, China University of Petroleum (Huadong) in teaching and scientific research related to sedimentology, reservoir quality and diagenesis. 2 II author De-Li Gao is a chair professor working for Department of Petroleum Engineering in China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB). He is a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a principal investigator of the Creative Research Group in critical well engineering for oil & gas issued by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and director of Key Laboratory of Petroleum Engineering of the Ministry of Education, China. He is also chairman of Academic Board of CUPB and a standing director of Chinese Petroleum Society, China. He has 30 years research and teaching experience in the field of petroleum engineering. He is committed to research on downhole mechanics and control engineering for oil & gas, and has accomplished more than 30 research projects sponsored by the national scientific and technological funds and the leading petroleum and petrochemical corporations, such as CNPC, CNOOC, SINOPEC and so on. He has already obtained more than 40 items of invention patents and published 6 monographs and a lot of technical papers in which there are more than 100 papers indexed by SCI. 6 Quantification and timing of porosity evolution in tight sand gas reservoirs: an example from the Middle Jurassic Shaximiao Formation, western Sichuan, China Zheng-Xiang Lü, Su-Juan Ye, Xiang Yang, Rong Li, Yuan-Hua Qing 2015, Vol.12, No.2 The first author Zheng-Xiang Lü is currently a professor of petroleum geology at Chengdu University of Technology (China). He has over 10 years of experience in the petroleum industry. His research interests include carbonate, mudstone, and clastic sequence stratigraphy, depositional systems, diagenesis, and reservoir characterization. The corresponding author Su-Juan Ye is a senior research geologist with Exploration and Production Research Institute, SINOPEC Southwest Oil & Gas Company (China). Her research interests are in reservoir characterization and modeling, sedimentary geology, petroleum geochemistry, and hydrocarbon accumulation. Pet. Sci. His research fields include rock mechanics and rock physics, unconventional oil and gas well drilling, well completion and hydraulic fracturing. The corresponding author Liu Yang is currently a postdoctor at Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His research fields include geo-mechanics, hydraulic fracturing in gas shale, interactions between water and shale, imbibition in porous media. 8 Investigation of shale gas microflow with the Lattice Boltzmann method Xiao-Ling Zhang, Li-Zhi Xiao, Long Guo, Qing-Ming Xie 2015, Vol.12, No.1 The first author Xiao-Ling Zhang is an engineer at Department of Asia Pacific Exploration & Production, Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development, PetroChina. Her research area is petrophysical characteristics and micro flow of shale gas, well logging evaluation of conventional and unconventional reservoirs. The corresponding author Li-Zhi Xiao is ChangJiang scholar chair professor at College of Geophysics and Information Engineering in China University of Petroleum, Beijing. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) at the State Key Laboratory of Petroleum Resources and Prospecting. He and his team has published more than 150 peer

Prof. Xiao is currently serve as the President of EAGE China, member of the SEG Advisory Committee, President of Society of NMR Instruments of China Society of Analytical Instruments, committee member of the China Society of Magnetic Resonance of China Physics Society, Vice President of Rock Physics Committee of China Geophysics Society, Scientific Advisor of MRPM, Executive Committee member of SRMR. He has been granted more than 20 invention patents. The winners of the 2016 Best Reviewer Award Feng Youliang is a senior geologist at Department of Petroleum Geology, PetroChina Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development. He has published more than 40 research papers in domestic and international journals, and a monograph in Chinese on sequence stratigraphy of continental rifted basins. His research interests include sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, and petroleum geology. Yu Bingsong is a professor of sedimentology and reservoir geology from the School of Earth Sciences and Resources, China University of Geosciences at Beijing (CUGB). His recent accomplishments include carbonate sequence stratigraphy and reservoir characterization in Tarim Basin, and organic-rich shale sedimentology and shale gas geology in South China. Kang Wanli is a professor at China University of Petroleum. His research interests include enhanced oil recovery and oilfield chemistry. He has published over 200 publications including papers, textbooks, conferences and programs and 6 patents. SCI cited publications are over 70. Has been awarded as the Taishan Scholar, Excellent Scholar, 1 National Technology Award, and 4 Province Technology Awards. He has successfully combined the technology and industrial application, has many projects applied in the oilfield as a sophisticated scientist, scholar and engineer in this field. He is highly respected and well known in the field of chemical EOR/IOR, especially in the synthesis and application of surfactant like materials for improving water and gas flooding. He has developed and patented over 10 chemical formulations of surfactants and polymers for oilfield application. He is also a pioneer researcher in combined chemical and gas flooding systems, such as polymer, ASP, preformed gels, foams and CO2 flooding. Over the past 30 years, he has engaged and completed more than 30 major research projects, supported by the Science and Technology Ministry, National Science Foundation, and three major oil companies of China. Zhang Jinjun is a professor at China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB), is an advisor of the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, and a winner of the Special Government Allowance of China. He serves as the vice-chairman of the Academic Committee of CUPB, academic leader of the National Key Discipline of Petroleum Storage and Transportation of CUPB. He is the member of council, Chinese Chemical Society, and the vice-president and secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Rheology, and the vice director and secretary-general of the university division of the Petroleum Storage and Transportation Committee, Chinese Petroleum Society. He has been engaged in teaching and research of Petroleum Storage and Transportation, with emphasis on pipeline transportation of waxy and viscous crude oil. He has published over 110 papers indexed by SCI and EI. He is the winner of 1 National Award for Science and Technology Progress, and 10 science and technology awards as well as 1 education award of the provincial and ministerial level. Lei Yalin, professor and doctoral supervisor. She is vice president of China University of Geosciences, Beijing (CUGB). She has undertaken more than 50 research projects, including 10 national projects, more than 20 international cooperation, provincial and ministerial projects. She and her team have published over 140 academic papers, over 50 of which are indexed by SCI/SSCI. She has also published over 10 monographs and textbooks. Some research results have been applied and achieved a certain social and economic effects. She was selected as the Beijing youth social science theory talent Hundred Projects Scholar in She was awarded the first Distinguished Graduate Supervisors of CUGB in III

(2017) 14: I-IV Zhao Zhen is currently a Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor, the group leader of Environmental Catalysis and the vice dean of Beijing Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Pollution Control at China University of Petroleum Beijing. His research is mainly focused on environmental catalysis, petrochemical industry catalysis and solid state surface chemistry. He is the author or co-author of more than 280 peer-reviewed scientific publications with ~5000 citations and 30 patents. He serves as a committee member of Catalysis Society of China, a committee member and an associated director of Oil Products and Clean Fuels Branch of Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines; and the vice director of catalysis committee of Rare Earth Society of China.
