2 EXPLORATION 1. Mt THIRSTY PROJECT (50% Barra; 50% Fission) The 66km 2 Mt Thirsty Cobalt-Nickel-Manganese Oxide Project is located 20km north-northwest of Norseman in southern Western Australia. It is a 50/50 joint venture between the Company and ASX listed Fission Energy Limited ( Fission ) (collectively referred to as the Joint Venture ). Mt Thirsty has a current JORC Indicated Resource of 14.8 million tonnes at 0.14% cobalt, 0.59% nickel and 0.99% manganese and a JORC Inferred Resource of 14.2 million tonnes at 0.11% cobalt, 0.52% nickel and 0.77% manganese over a length of 1.3km and a width of up to 850m. In addition to the Cobalt-Nickel-Manganese Oxide Resource, the Mt Thirsty joint venture tenements have the potential to host nickel sulphide mineralisation at greater depth within the same ultramafic sequence. A potentially significant nickel sulphide discovery was made during the quarter. Nickel Sulphide Exploration A very thick sequence of originally olivine-rich, cumulate-textured ultramafic rocks has been intersected in previous holes drilled at Mt Thirsty. These rocks contain variable amounts of disseminated, vein and stringer-style sulphide mineralisation. The footwall contact where the best concentration of nickel sulphides might be expected was unable to be reached in any holes drilled until this quarter. Basal lava channel embayments located on ultramaficbasalt contacts are a preferred location for nickel sulphide accumulations e.g. in the Kambalda region. Several of these basal embayment type structures have been identified within the project area and are currently being evaluated at Mt Thirsty. RC Drilling Four RC holes for a total of 775m (MTRC014 to MTRC017) were completed during the quarter testing the footwall contact position of an interpreted basal lava channel embayment at the southern end of E63/373 (Figures 1 & 2). The best intersection returned was 6m at 3.38% nickel from 201m in MTRC015. This zone of massive stringer nickel sulphides was intersected adjacent to the footwall basalt-ultramafic contact at an approximate vertical depth of 190m. Sampling was undertaken with a spear and assayed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP MS). The average weight of the samples was 4 kg. The massive nickel sulphide stringer mineralisation in MTRC015 appears to have been remobilised from a nearby source. Geophysical interpretation based on aeromagnetic data indicates the lava channel has a strike length of at least 400m. The geology appears quite complex with several flat dipping pegmatite sills breaking the stratigraphy into segments similar to the geological setting of Western Areas Flying Fox Nickel Deposit at Forrestania. Based on the current geological interpretation, down hole intercepts are less than true width (Figure 2). Holes MTRC014 and MTRC016, located 200m north and south of MTRC 015, failed to reach the footwall contact due to drilling constraints. These may be deepened by diamond drilling at a later date. Hole MTRC017 returned no significant intersections. Diamond Drilling Two diamond holes MTDD025 and MTDD026 (Figure 2) totalling m were also completed during the quarter following up deep hole MTDD008. Hole MTDD008 intersected a substantial zone of remobilised stringer nickel sulphides at 314m. This hole was originally drilled to test one of two EM conductors identified following a surface EM survey over the eastern portion of E63/373 in the vicinity of surface nickel sulphide gossans. Holes MTDD025 and MTDD026 were designed to test the centres of both EM conductors at around 300m depth. The EM anomalies were interpreted to be possible nickel sulphide accumulations at the base of the Mt Thirsty sill. MTDD025, designed to test the southern of the two conductors, was unable to reach target depth due to drilling problems. MTDD026 was completed to a depth of 323m passing through a sulphide stringer zone at almost the same stratigraphic position as in hole MTDD008. This zone is 24m in thickness and commences at 274m downhole. Downhole EM surveying of MTDD026 confirmed a significant conductor at 250m depth which coincided with a 1m thick black shale unit. The stringer zone only recorded a weak off-hole EM response. Anomalous nickel assays up to 0.4% were returned with no significant intersections. MTDD027 is currently being drilled to test the southern conductor and is presently at 255m depth. The hole is targeting the centre of the EM anomaly and target depth is around 320m. Future Program Follow-up RC drilling around the strong nickel sulphide intersection in RC hole MTRC015 is planned for the second week in August. June 2010 Quarterly Report page 2

3 Cobalt-Nickel-Manganese Oxide Deposit Pre Feasibility Study ( PFS ) During the quarter, tender documents were prepared and forwarded to selected globally recognised process engineering companies. All tender submissions received have been evaluated and a short list compiled. The successful tenderer will be announced shortly. The PFS is expected to be completed early in Pending a favourable outcome the Joint Venture partners are confident the project has all of the necessary ingredients to attract a major international cobalt refiner/off-take partner to fund final Feasibility and Project construction. Metallurgical Testwork Metallurgical testwork continued during the quarter on large composite samples of the PQ drill core obtained to allow further refinement of the Mt Thirsty flow sheet. Process Water A number of potential ground water sources have been identified in the Mt Thirsty area and further work to test these will be carried out during the remainder of 2010 China Nickel Conference A presentation was made by metallurgical consultants Independent Metallurgical Operations Pty Ltd ( IMO ) on behalf of the Mt Thirsty Joint Venture at the China Nickel Conference in Shanghai in May. 5 2. BURBANKS GOLD PROJECT (WA) (100% Barra). The Burbanks gold project is located 9km southeast of Coolgardie in WA and consists of granted tenements totalling 22.5km 2 and covering over 5km of strike extent of the Burbanks shear. The Burbanks Mining Centre has produced in excess of 400,000 ounces from predominantly above 150m vertical depth from both historical underground mine workings, modern open pits and previous Barra underground production. During the quarter, the Company completed a significant RC drilling program to test three prospects; Burbanks North, Fangjaw and Pipeline. The program consisted of 50 RC holes (BBRC170 to BBRC219) for 3,817m. All significant intersections are presented in Table 2. Burbanks North At Burbanks North, 33 RC holes (BBRC170 to BBRC202) for 2,449m were drilled to improve confidence in the interpretation of the mineralised zones and structural geometry of the existing resource located along strike to the north of the underground operations at Burbanks (Figure 3). This infill program tested an area 350m in strike and 150m in width. The results of the program were highly encouraging and give the Company confidence that it can potentially define a shallow oxide gold resource. Best intersections include 3.85g/t gold from 17m in BBRC182 including 5.74g/t gold, 3.90g/t gold from 21m in BBRC186 including 6.07g/t gold and 4.18g/t gold from 49m in BBRC190. Mineralisation at Burbanks North is associated with sheared mafic volcanic and diorite rocks within the larger Burbanks Shear Zone which also hosts the high-grade mineralisation at the Company s Burbanks underground mine. At present, the mineralised zone is open in all directions. Further drilling to test the strike extent of Burbanks North is anticipated once preliminary resource estimation work has been completed. Trumpeter BBRC219 was drilled in an area of no previous drilling or mapping approximately 1.3km from the Company s 100% owned Burbanks Gold Mining Centre. This isolated ( wildcat ) hole was designed based on field observation of ferruginous quartz and oxidised diorite float whilst RC drilling was in progress at Burbanks North, Fangjaw and Pipeline. This hole returned an outstanding result of 27m at 10.28g/t gold from 60m including 9m at 28.49g/t gold and 8m at 2.34g/t gold from 79m. Follow-up drilling around BBRC219 to confirm the result and test immediate strike extensions to the north and south will commence in August Fangjaw At Fangjaw, 13 RC holes (BBRC203 to BBRC213 and BBRC217 to BBRC218) were drilled for 1,012m with mixed results. The drilling was planned to infill around existing broad zones of low-grade supergene gold mineralisation in an attempt to identify a potential primary source beneath the supergene mineralisation. Best results include 2.81g/t gold from 61m including 4.81g/t in BBRC207, 1.08g/t gold from 42m including 1.91g/t gold, 1.16g/t gold from 58m, and 1.26g/t gold from 67m in BBRC209 and 3.89g/t gold from 20m, 1.62g/t gold from 29m, and 1.27g/t gold from 42m in BBRC210. Whilst the drilling confirmed existing zones of supergene mineralisation, it did not identify any primary source to the supergene mineralisation. Holes BBRC212 and 213 were abandoned. Fangjaw remains a high priority target due to the abundance of supergene gold mineralisation. Although grades are relatively low, there is sufficient evidence to suggest that higher grade lodes exist to the western side of the prospect area where mineralisation appears to be associated with sheared diorites. Pipeline At Pipeline, 3 RC holes (BBRC214 to BBRC216) for 269m were drilled to follow-up on two previous highgrade intersections. All holes failed to intersect any significant mineralisation. Production During the quarter, Tribute mining partner Mulgabbie successfully extracted approximately 1,742 tonnes at 10.2 grams per tonne from the high-grade Dahmu reef. A new mine design to optimise production from Dahmu and Eastern reefs in 2H2010 has been completed and mining is underway. Milling operations at Burmill treated a preliminary estimate of 3,660 tonnes at 7.04 grams per tonne gold for 828 ounces from the high-grade Dahmu reef (awaiting GIC reconciliation). Additional revenue was received from stockpile sales of 1,000 tonnes at 4.4 grams per tonne gold for approximately 141 ounces. Burbanks has a current JORC Indicated Resource of 250,000 tonnes at 3.43g/t gold for 27,570 ounces and Inferred Resource of 141,000 tonnes at 2.92g/t gold for 13,240 ounces at a 1.0g/t lower gold grade cut-off. 9 3. PHILLIPS FIND GOLD PROJECT (WA) (100% Barra) 1 The Phillips Find gold project is located some 50km north of Coolgardie in Western Australia. The tenement package contains the Phillips Find Mining Centre where 40,000 ounces of gold has been mined. The Newminster Prospect, within the Phillips Find Mining Centre, has a current JORC Indicated Resource of 84,111 tonnes at 4.62g/t for 12,500 ounces and an Inferred Resource of 32,265 tonnes at 2.50g/t for 2,600 ounces at a 0.8g/t lower gold grade cut-off. During the quarter, 24 RC holes (PFRC015 to PFRC038) were completed for a total of 2,242m at Diablo and Truth prospects. Reverse Circulation Drilling Diablo At Diablo, 18 RC holes (PFRC015 to PFRC032) for 1,735m were completed at the Diablo Prospect (Figure 4). This drilling is the Company s second phase program designed to increase the strike length of the high grade Diablo Lode. The best intersection returned from the program was 30.90g/t gold from 67m depth including g/t gold in PFRC017. Other results were generally disappointing with respect to extending the limits of the Diablo Lode. The drilling did however increase the Company s understanding of the structural controls to the high-grade mineralisation which can be applied to other favourable target zones along the same geological sequence. The Diablo Lode has effectively been defined over a strike length of 60m, a height of approximately 40m and a width of about 2 to 3m, with a potential grade of between 6 and 8g/t gold. The Company will progress the Diablo Lode to an in-house modelling and optimisation study to determine the economic viability with respect to a small open-pit operation. All significant intersections are presented in Table 3. Truth Six preliminary RC holes (PFRC033 to PFRC038) were drilled at Truth Prospect to test historical shallow gold mineralisation at depth (Figure 5). The historical drilling intersected oxide gold mineralisation associated with intermediate porphyry intrusions within and along the contact between a basalt hanging-wall unit and dolerite foot-wall unit. Best intersections of 5m at 1.05g/t gold from 41m and 1m at 7.75g/t gold from 72m were returned from PFRC037. Assay results are presented in Table 3. RAB Drilling A 154 hole infill RAB drilling program for 5,430m was completed over three prospect areas where previous Barra RAB drilling in 2009 intersected weak gold anomalism. The program aimed to duplicate and extend existing anomalism to identify a zone of mineralisation similar to Diablo. Weak anomalism was intersected primarily at Warlock and south of the Diablo Lode. Best intersections include; 4m at 0.85g/t gold from 4m in PFRB175 and 4m at 0.41g/t gold from 24m in PFRB166 at Warlock and 4m at 0.57g/t gold from 40m in PFRB226 and 8m at 0.20g/t gold from 56m in PFRB243 south of Diablo. A summary of anomalous intersections is listed in Table 5. Whilst only anomalous, the weak mineralised trends identified south of the Diablo Lode clearly show a coincident trend as interpreted cross-cutting northeast trending shears/faults, identical to the orientation of the Diablo Lode. The drilling at Bob Hope failed to identify any anomalous trends. Further infill and extensional RAB drilling is recommended at Diablo and Warlock. A Mineral Resource Estimate for Diablo is planned to be undertaken in the second half of In line with the Company s 2010 Gold Exploration Program, aggressive RAB and aircore drilling campaigns will be undertaken at Doncaster, Tiarma, Kidson and Lost Chance in the December quarter in an effort to identify and establish JORC compliant resources to supplement existing mineable resources at Newminster. Newminster Gold Deposit The Newminster gold deposit hosts a JORC Indicated Resource of 84,111 tonnes at 4.62g/t for 12,500 ounces of gold and an Inferred Resource of 32, g/t for 2,600 ounces of gold. It is located adjacent to the Bacchus Gift and Newhaven open pits within the historical Phillips Find Mining Centre which produced some 50,000 ounces of gold from historical underground and open pit mining operations over the past 100 years. The deposit continues to be assessed with a view to commencing open pit mining operations at Newminster which could provide Barra with a short to medium term cashflow. Barra may also consider tribute mining arrangements for the deposit similar to those recently struck at its Burbanks underground gold mining operation. 1 Note: Tenements P16/2420 to 2425 are 85 owned by Barra, 15% owned by Phoenix Gold Pty Ltd. RIVERINA NICKEL PROJECT (WA) (30% Barra, 70% Riverina Resources Pty Ltd (RRPL) - Managers) The Riverina Project is located 125km north of Coolgardie in Western Australia on granted tenements that cover an area of approximately 120km 2. Joint Venture partner and manager, RRPL, earned 70% equity in the project in June 2006 and in August 2007, the Joint Venture sold the project tenements and gold rights to Monarch Gold Mining Company Limited ( Monarch ). RRPL (70%) and Barra (30%) retain the nickel rights to the Riverina Project. Between 2005 and 2008, the Joint Venture actively explored the Martins Zone ultramafic unit for economic concentrations of nickel laterite and nickel sulphide mineralisation and successfully defined a JORC compliant nickel laterite resource in the northern area of the Martins Zone. Exploration has also demonstrated that the Martins Zone ultramafic unit is prospective for nickel sulphide mineralisation, with drilling in the southern area of the Martins Zone returning narrow widths of high-grade remobilised massive nickel sulphide adjacent to an undeformed ultramafic footwall contact, including 2.00m grading 2.80% nickel from 15m grading 10.90% nickel from 25m. 14 TENEMENTS At the Burbanks Project in W.A., tenements P15/5211 to P15/5213, P15/5281 and P15/5282 were granted during the quarter. At the Mt Thirsty Project in southern W.A., tenements E63/1267, E63/1303 and E63/1304 were granted with Barra acquiring a 50% ownership subject to the Mt Thirsty Joint Venture agreement. CORPORATE Following the end of the quarter, Mr Dean Goodwin resigned as Managing Director on 1 July Dean will remain on the Board as a Non-Executive Director where he will continue to oversee the Company s gold, nickel and cobalt exploration programs. Chairman Gary Berrell will assume an executive role, taking on greater responsibility for the day to day operations of the Company.
