3 Part A Knowledge of subject matter Part A assesses knowledge of subject matter and its simple application based on the eight topics in the Chemistry Senior External Syllabus 1998 (amended 2006). 23 Question 3 Energy and rates of chemical reactions Hydrogen gas and gaseous iodine react to form hydrogen iodide according to the following equation.
