(Palm is not included - please contact your local RDT distributor for latest Palm specifications) RR98059 PTFE cap, RR98060 glass reaction tube with thermocouple pocket and RR66615 wire thermocouple e. b. Individual temperature control of each reaction position... The Syn 10 uses 10 individual Peltier cells to control the heating and cooling of each well completely independent of each other. Combined with high performance insulation, this allows adjacent wells to achieve a temperature differential of 180 C (-30 C to 150 C). This powerful feature is perfect for temperature optimisation, a key factor affecting reaction rates. a. Data logging of solution temperature... Using the Syn 10 Thermcouple Module and any Type T thermocouple probe you can monitor and record the solution temperature within each reaction tube. The RR66609 Thermocouple Module is connected to the Syn 10 via a dedicated data cable. Details of the individual reaction temperatures are then data logged back to the Palm or PC via the Thermocouple Module/Syn 10 interface. The unit features 12 individual Type T thermocouple ports, into which are plugged any number of thermocouples. c. Probes can be inserted into the reaction tubes via either of two methods; through a port in the RR98055 PTFE Probe Cap or via a glass pocket in the modified RR98051 reaction tube. d. 4 Efficient water cooled reflux head provides optimum condensing performance - minimising solvent evaporation during synthesis An optional, removable water cooled reflux head ensures even and efficient refluxing, minimising solvent evaporation during synthesis for even the most volatile solvents, such as ether. Cooling water is introduced to the reflux head via barbed connectors at the rear of the unit. The reflux head features clearly numbered reaction positions from 1 to 10. Syn 10 Reflux Head Syn 10 Synthesiser Simple central inert gas distribution system A gas distribution system is built into the centre of the reflux head, which when combined with gas-tight PTFE caps, allow the introduction of inert gas to each reaction position, for air or moisture sensitive chemistries. Inert gas is introduced into the reflux head via a single inlet at the rear of the unit. Heat Removal The Syn 10 utilises Peltier technology for cooling of the reaction tubes. The heat that these Peltier cells generate must be dissipated and the Syn 10 requires a supply of cooling water for this purpose. Tests prove that tap water at 15 C can be utilised for operation of the Syn 10 at -20 C. However to achieve the maximum performance (-30 C) for the Syn 10 in all wells, you will require a source of chilled water at 5 C or below. Therefore you may require an independent chiller system for this purpose. Such a unit should be capable of achieving at least 5 C and if ALL 10 reaction positions are to achieve -30 C simultaneously it must to be able to remove a minimum of 1KW of heat. Lesser-powered chillers can be used, but it is likely that you will not be able to achieve -30 C in all of the reaction positions simultaneously. The recommended Chiller System for use with Metz Syn 10 is the Huber Unichiller. Reflux Cooling Water Reflux Inert Gas Power Supply Peltier Cooling RR66614 Huber Unichiller 10 C to +40 C 1 Cooling capacity at 15 C = 1.5 kw Cooling capacity at 0 C = 1.0 kw Cooling capacity at -10 C = 0.4 kw Pump max 25L/min at 3.0 bar.
