DL I T 5389-1 Scope This Standard stipulates the technical requirements, construction methods and construction quality inspection and acceptance for rock foundation excavation of hydraulic structures. This Standard is applicable to the rock foundation excavation for hydraulic structures of large-and medium-sized hydropower and water resources projects, and it may be referred for other works.

DL IT 5389-2 Normative References The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. 2 GB 6722 Safety Regulations for Blasting GB 50218 Standard for Engineering Classification ofrock Masses GB 50287 Code for Water Resource and Hydropower Engineering Geological Investigation DUT 5099 Construction Technical Specifications on Underground Excavating Engineering ofhydraulic Structures Dur 5100 Geological Code of Construction Period for Hydropower and Water Resources Project DUT 5113.1 Quality Degree Evaluate Standard of Unit Engineering for Hydropower and Water Conservancy Construction Engineering Part 1: Civil Department Dill 5135 Specifications ofexcavation Blasting for Hydropower and Water Conservancy Project Dill 5173 Specification of Construction Survey in Hydropower and Hydraulic Engineering DL 5180 Classification & Design Safety Standard of Hydropower Projects Dill 5181 Construction Specifications for Anchor and Shotcrete Support ofhydropower and Water Conservancy Engineering Dill 5333 and Water Resources Engineering Code for Blasting Safety Monitoring ofhydropower

DL IT 5389 3 Terms and Definitions The following terms and definitions are applicable to this Standard. 3.0.1 Foundation surface The bedrock surface in direct contact with the hydraulic structure. 3.0.2 Protective layer 4 A certain thickness of rockmass that is adjacent to foundation surface or reserved rock, for preventing the damage or adverse effects by blasting on the foundation or reserved rock surface. 3.0.3 Single-stage slope A design slope is often composed of multistage slopes. The slope that is located between two neighboring berms is referred to as the single-stage slope. 3.0.4 Blasting The practice to use the energy of explosives to make the medium compressed, and then loosened and crushed or thrown away for the purpose of excavation or demolition. 3.0.5 Presplit blasting The blasting practice that is used to reduce the damage of main blasting on the reserved rock surface and to form a smooth profile by forming a presplit crack between the blasted zone and reserved zone through drilling closely spaced blastholes along the excavation

DL I T 5389-4 General 4.0.1 This Standard is formulated to standardize rock foundation excavation of hydraulic structures. 4.0.2 Before excavation, the information about engineering geology and hydrogeology shall be collected and understood. During construction, the engineering geological and hydrogeological recording, prediction and forecast shall be carried out. 4.0.3 Before excavation, the construction plan of excavation and support shall be prepared according to the geological conditions and design requirements. and shall be adjusted in time according to the actual disclosed conditions. 4.0.4 Safety plan shall be made according to GB 6722 and other related standards. and the relevant personnel shall be trained with safety knowledge. 4. O. 5 For rock foundation excavation of hydraulic structures, the safety monitoring and quality inspection shall be carried out according to project requirements. 4. O. 6 The drilling and blasting method shall be used for rock foundation excavation, the chamber blasting or springing blasting is forbidden to use at nearby location. For the distant places, if the chamber blasting has to be employed, the specific tests and safety technical verification shall be carried out. 4.0.7 The new technologies, new techniques, new materials and advanced equipment shall be promoted to use in rock foundation excavation if they are safely reliable, technologically advanced, and economically reasonable. 8

DL I T 5389-5 Geology 5. 0.1 Before excavation, the relevant infonnation about engineering geology and hydrogeology shall be collected according to Dur 5109 and GB 50287. The main contents shall include the following: 1 The stratigraphy and lithology, especially the distribution of accumulative bodies and unstable rockmass within the excavation site and its surrounding area. 10 2 The geological structure conditions, especially the location, attitude and scale of faults, closely jointed and fractured zones. 3 The recharge and discharge conditions of groundwater, the distribution and burial conditions of aquifers, the water table and inflow of groundwater, especially the recharge sources of the groundwater with large inflows, the locations of highly penneable zones and their recharge sources. 4 The weathering conditions of rocks, especially the attitude and extension of weathered interlayers and their relationships with the foundation surface. 5 The stratigraphy, scale and filling conditions of karst caves in karst area. 6 The stress conditions of rockmass. 7 The rock classes. 8 The stability conditions of slopes. 5. O. 2 The following works shall be carried out during excavation: 1 Timely geological recording and analysis so as to check the geological investigation data collected before construction. 2 Prediction and forecast of potential engineering geological

DL I T 5389-6 Survey 6.0.1 The basic contents of construction survey for rock foundation excavation are as follows: 1 Establishment of the plane control and elevation control network. 2 Survey of the original topography and cross sections of the excavation site. 3 The characteristic chainage number, elevation and the controlling points of excavation outlines shall be marked timely on the excavation surface according to the excavation stages. 4 Layout surveying of excavation outlines and cross sections. 5 Survey of excavated cross section of slope or foundation surface. 6 Check and acceptance, drafting of the as-built drawings, and providing of the inspection and acceptance data of the intermediate and final construction phases. 6.0.2 The position limit error of excavation outline setting out points shall meet the requirements in Table 6.0.2. unless specified otherwise in design.
