Tempest Lighting Product Training November 2010

Tempest Whatever the Weather High-power lights/projectors and outdoor climates means trouble! Rain, Snow Sunlight, Heat and Cold Condensation especially in salt air Tempest Enclosures protect against all these In a Tempest Enclosure, your equipment will often last LONGER outdoors than indoors Tempest Enclosures: Keep you warm when it s cold Keep you cool when it s hot And never, ever, allow condensation Treasure Island Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada These fixtures have been out in the Nevada desert for eight years in Tempest Tornado Enclosures.

Moving Light Enclosures Tornado 2050 up to 300W Tornado 2000 575-700W Tornado 2200 Larger LED heads (VLX etc) Tornado 2300 1200-1500W Tornado 2400 Barco Showgun, DL3, DML1200 All feature Tempest s patented Digital Enclosure Control (DEC3 TM ) system Cooling Heating Remote Monitoring Fully automatic Tornado 2300 Tempest s top-selling enclosure for most larger moving lights

Hurricane for Barco Cyber 2.0 Newly redesigned for new 2.0 Cyber Low profile, low wind-resistance Unique product DEC3 Custom Colors Any orientation Hurricane 2 First ten units just shipped to new Disney Cruise Ship.

Fixed Lighting Enclosures Thunder any lighting fixture up to 2.5kW 6600 Most Ellipsoidal Spotlights (14-50 ) 6700-10 Ellipsoidals 6800-5 Ellipsoidals, Pattern Projectors Thunder Scan moving mirror projectors Thunder 6600 Just about any theatrical spotlight Many Custom Options Plenty of room for accessories DEC control or Fan-only Storm Architectural Grade for Ellipsoidal Spotlights up to 10 Storm 5000 Architectural Style for Outdoor Lighting

Projector Enclosures Baby Blizzard up to 4-5,000 ANSI Lumens Blizzard 5-15,000 ANSI Lumens Cyclone 12-35,000 ANSI Lumens Zacatecas, Mexico

Nuts and Bolts - Tornado Orientation Tornado 2050 Base Up or Base Down ok same part # Tornado 2400 Base Up or Base Down ok same part # Tornado 2000, 2200, 2300 Base Down no suffix (eg 2200.IN) Base up Suffix V (eg 2300.INV) Horizontal Suffix H (eg 2000.USH) Base Down Base Up Horizontal

Nuts and Bolts - Voltage and Mounting 120V Versions with NEMA wiring have.us part #s (eg 6550.US) 208V Versions (mainly Larger Tornados and Cyclones), also.us 230V Versions with CE wiring and CE17 receptacles have International.IN suffix, (eg 2050.IN) Exception: Tornados Tornados are packed using 4 x 4900.MB Kits. Pipe Clamp Kits for Tornados are: Mounting by Unistruts on Enclosure Base (except Storm) Suggested Mounting plates/dimensions in all manuals Use Stainless Steel Unistrut Hardwire, or buy Tempest kits:

Nuts and Bolts Which Enclosure? Check the Fixture Guide on the Product Page: http://www.tempestlighting.com/docs/tempest%20fixture%20chart%20100210.pdf Check the Enclosure data sheet Email Tim! tim@tempestlighting.com. There are no dumb questions! Projectors the max projector dimensions are shown in the enclosure data sheets. Check the Projector manual on line for dimensions, power and connector locations. Remember to allow for the length of the lens!!! Allow for connectors on sides or back. Customers often want to incorporate other equipment in the enclosure that s ok, but remember to allow space.

Digital Enclosure Control - 1 Maintains temperature range between Bottom Temp (0-10 C) Top Temp (30-45 C) Fan(s) change air every 2-3 seconds, so no heat buildup Isolates fixture/projector at Cutoff Temp (Top Temp + 0-15 C) When Lamp is OFF, runs Anti-Condensation Routine Balance heaters/fan activity at low level Always maintain Temp a few degrees above condensation point CONDENSATION IS THE KILLER! Waterproof DEC3 Control Panel Full control at the enclosure, or remotely, over RDM

Digital Enclosure Control - 2 Standalone Mode Works out of the box NO setups Fully Automatic Most Lighting jobs, ALL projectors RDM Mode Monitor Temperature, Humidity, Lamp status, lamp hours, DMX and power, etc, over RDM DMX Mode Directly control the Lamp Relay (25amp 2-pole) Remote hard reset for moving lights Waterproof DEC3 Control Panel Full control at the enclosure, or remotely, over RDM

Why not IP 65? IP65 requires NO dust ingress a sealed enclosure Tempest uses 10 micron dust filters Tempest moves a LOT of air Standard used is US NEMA 3R Outdoor Weatherproof standard/testing Water, Ice, Snow Ventilation permitted Some water ingress permitted, provided it drains harmlessly away Closest IP equivalent is IP54 This is OK Engineers will understand Go to www.tempestlighting.com For a full explanation for engineers

Why Not Air-Conditioning? Tempest used high-velocity forced air cooling Very effective Very simple Easy to control Condensation A/C systems can cool effectively, but: Impossible to eliminate condensation More moving parts, vibration Higher Cost Mineral deposits build up on glass and inside projector Projector life is limited Big customers (eg Disney) are switching from A/C to Tempest enclosures

Applications Theme Parks Outdoor Attractions City Scapes Advertising Train Stations info/advertising Cultural/Historical Churches Blackpool Illuminations, England

Market Opportunity This is a NEW MARKET, especially projection Most designers don t know that they can use this equipment outside Talk to: Lighting Designers Architects City Planners Electrical Engineers Artists City Hall, Austria
