CropCast Weekly Feedgrains Report Don Keeney Thursday, Feedgrains Summary: The CROPCAST estimate for world feedgrain production is 1215.0 MMT, which is unchanged compared to last week. Limited rains in the Midwest this week will favor corn harvesting Widespread showers in central and northwestern Brazil this week will improve moisture for new corn growth Showers improved moisture in South Africa this past week, but rains should be limited this week Dry weather in western Europe this week will allow corn harvesting to progress well there GROWING AREAS SORGHUM GROWING AREAS BARLEY GROWING AREAS United States PAST WEATHER: Showers favored the Midwest and north central Delta this past week. FORECAST: A few light showers should favor the northern Midwest this week. CROP IMPACT: Showers in the Midwest this past week slowed harvesting a bit, but much more limited rains this week will allow harvesting to progress well. Brazil PAST WEATHER: Showers favored Mato Grosso, Goias, southwestern Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul this past week. FORECAST: Showers should favor Mato Grosso, Goias, Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul this week. CROP IMPACT: Rains in central and northwestern areas this week will further improve moisture for first crop corn growth. However, some dryness will rebuild in Bahia in far northeastern areas. European Union PAST WEATHER: Rains favored Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Former Yugoslavia, Hungary, and Italy last week. FORECAST: Showers should favor eastern Germany, Poland, Czech- Slovak Republics, and southern Italy this week. CROP IMPACT: Showers this past week slowed harvesting a bit, but drier weather in central and western areas this week will allow harvest progress to improve.

CropCast Weekly Feedgrains Report Don Keeney Thursday, China PAST WEATHER: Showers favored North China Plain, and central and eastern Yangtze Valley last week. FORECAST: Rains should favor North China Plain and Yangtze Valley this week. CROP IMPACT: Rains across central and southeastern North China Plain and Yangtze Valley have stalled corn harvesting and increased wetness, and wetness concerns will persist this week. Meanwhile, limited rains in Northeast China will favor harvesting. South Africa PAST WEATHER: Showers favored Northwest Province, Guateng, central Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Kwazulu-Natal, and eastern Free State last week. FORECAST: A few light showers should favor Guateng, Mpumalanga, and Kwazulu-Natal this week. CROP IMPACT: Widespread rains this past week improved moisture for corn germination. However, more limited showers this week should allow dryness to expand a bit. Rains are currently expected to build again the following week.
