Since two points determine a line, one way to graph a linear function is to find the points at which the graph intersects each ais and connect them with a line. The y-coordinate of the point at which a graph crosses the y-ais is called the y-intercept. Likewise, the -coordinate of the point at which it crosses the -ais is called the -intercept. StudyTip Vertical and Horizontal Lines When C represents a constant, an equation of the form = C represents a vertical line with only an -intercept.
