JOB SPECIFICATION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES GIS Systems Works with the Conservation Department and IT to create and maintain the data structures and IT platforms necessary for GIS data storage Develop spatial data capture systems suitable for use in the field Develop mapping templates and tools customised for the needs of the organisation Undertake georeferencing of archived datasets, images and records. Use analytical tools to interrogate inter-related GIS datasets to address strategic land management and research needs
Develop web based applications and portals for spatial information capture as required Training staff on GIS applications in the field Acting as mapping officer in the local emergency operations as needed Reporting Presentation of spatial data in high quality maps and other relevant formats Monthly reporting on projects to Conservation leadership team Contributes to various cartographic products for planning and research projects Provides maps and updates that can be used for grant applications and reporting, internally and externally Communication Recommends and develops solutions, standards, and procedures for applying GIS technology to program and project objectives.
