Connect with URISA Members Join URISA as a Partner Today The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), founded in 1963, is a leading provider of learning and knowledge for the GIS Community. URISA is a nonprofit organization where leaders from all sectors of the spatial data community (local and regional government, state/provincial and federal agencies, academia, and the private sector) come together to share concerns and ideas. URISA members are decision-makers. They are the leaders who drive the adoption of technology within their organizations. "For me, URISA is a kind of community of friends and professionals that are interested in sharing their REAL experiences in implementing technology in public service organizations. In the early years, I had the opportunity to present my work, get constructive criticism, and discuss the concepts and ideas of how GIS could make a meaningful contribution to society. It goes without saying that it is one of my favorite professional associations, not to mention that I always have fun at the annual meetings! Jack Dangermond, President, Esri, URISA member since 1969 URISA Supporting GIS Professionals Since 1963 URISA is influential...and so are its members: URISA has a 50-year history of original and fundamental contributions to urban and regional information systems and geographic information systems and science. URISA developed the GISP certification program and is the founding member of the GIS Certification Institute. URISA s GISCorps provides volunteer GIS expertise for underdeveloped countries and supports global disaster response and recovery efforts. In collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labor, URISA led the development of a Geospatial Management Competency Model. URISA s GIS Management Institute will support education, organizational accreditation and certification a major initiative for the profession! URISA s Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) Awards have recognized the exceptional application of technology for more than three decades. URISA s GIS Hall of Fame recognizes the most esteemed leaders of the geospatial community. URISA developed the U.S. Thoroughfare, Landmark, and Postal Address Data Standard approved and accepted by the FGDC and is embarking on a major initiative to develop and publish professional practice standards. URISA has developed a Local Government GIS Capability Maturity Model. URISA s Vanguard Cabinet, led by young industry professionals, is focused on engaging and supporting the future leaders of the profession. URISA is a founding member of the Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO). URISA s chapter members span North America, the Caribbean, and the United Arab Emirates. URISA has been and continues to be an outstanding resource of international best practices and guidelines for the geospatial community. The diversity and breadth of knowledge and intellectual capital of the URISA community is unmatched and has been a balanced resource for me since I first joined URISA as a student member several years ago. Allen Ibaugh, AICP, GISP DTS

The URISA Partner Program provides distinct benefits: Visibility as a leader in the GIS Community Direct access to international URISA members who are shaping the future of the industry Participation in the development of URISA's advocacy agenda on behalf of its members We invite your participation as a Partner. Packages are detailed below. Learn more by speaking with URISA s Executive Director, Wendy Nelson (847/824-6300, wnelson@urisa.org) or the URISA Board of Directors: President: Allen Ibaugh, AICP, GISP - DTS Past President: Al Butler, AICP City of Ocoee, FL President-Elect: Carl Anderson, GISP Spatial Focus, Inc. URISA goes beyond the software user groups and tackles the issues that are important to all GIS professionals, from GIS policy guidance to justifying GIS in your organization to fundamental addressing techniques. The educational opportunities really set URISA apart from the others. Eric Bohard, GISP, GIS Manager Clackamas County, OR URISA is committed to providing exceptional educational programs and experiences to support GIS professional development. Educational opportunities include Certified Workshops and webinars, the GIS-Pro Annual Conference and numerous specialty conferences: September 8-11, 2014 New Orleans, LA GIS/CAMA Technologies Conference URISA/NENA Addressing Conference URISA s GIS in Public Health Conference URISA s Caribbean GIS Conference GIS in Transit Conference URISA Leadership Academy This is the first time that I have purchased a software package directly as a result of a conference (GIS-Pro). I always go by all the vendors to see what innovations are out and to get new ideas. It is rare that the utility and cost of a package are such that I immediately pursue purchase. That is a credit to your product and helped make my attendance justified. I don't know that I would have learned about your company otherwise. I appreciate your presence at the URISA conference!
