INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY DELHI Department of Materials Science &Engineering M.TECH. PROGRAM IN POLYMER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Information Brochure 2018-19

About us The recently started Department of Materials Science and engineering (DMSE) having evolved from the formerly known Center for Polymer Science and Engineering (CPSE) has been running the M.Tech. program (as interdisciplinary program) in polymer science and technology since 1980. The program become recognized as an independent entity in 1993 in IIT Delhi. The principal thrust of the department is to fulfill the constantly growing requirements of polymer related industry and academics through excellence in teaching and research aspects related to polymer, plastics, elastomers and other macromolecular advancements within the broaden field of materials science. Acknowledging the achievements as the prospects by the polymer program, the former CPSE (now DMSE), the ministry of chemicals and fertilizers, Govt. of India, conferred the status of Centre of Excellence grant in advance polymer materials in the year 2014. The program has also been conferred with Plasticon awards 2009 for the best educational unit contributing to polymer field. HoD s Message About sixty percent of all industrial and academic research is directly or indirectly related to polymers in the form of blends/ composites, healthcare, electro-optic, nanocomposites and the like. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is dedicated in human resource development as well as grooming young researchers for future. The department offers an interdisciplinary M.Tech. degree in Polymer Science and Technology and Doctoral degree in areas covering all aspects of Polymer Science and technology. This brochure gives a brief overview of the teaching, research, facilities and industry- academia interaction based projects currently active at the department. -Prof. A.K.Ghosh
