Air By Mason Weather is cool but it is dangerous also! Have you ever noticed that the upstairs part of a house is warmer in winter than the downstairs part? That is because warm air is lighter than cool air.

Avalanches By Sawyer Avalanches can carry huge amounts of snow so powerful that they take snow as fast as 200 miles per hour. Millions of avalanches happen each year all over the world. Another type of avalanche is called slab avalanches.

Blizzards By Kenna Blizzards usually travel west. Blizzards can occur anywhere, even in places where temperatures are usually warm. Blizzards can last a couple hours or a couple days.

Clouds By Autumn Dark, flat stratus clouds are like a blanket so they cover most of the sky. Cumulus clouds are puffy and soft and you can make pictures out of them. Some clouds hold snow, rain, and hail in them.

Clouds By Jayla Clouds move across the blue sky. Clouds carry rain and lots of snow. Cumulus clouds have puffy tops and flat bottoms.

Droughts By Cameron Droughts can happen anywhere in the world. Animals and people can suffer from a drought because there is no water to begin with. Droughts can happen any day of the year and last for weeks, months, or even years.

Hurricanes By Connor The strength of the hurricane depends upon how fast the winds spin around the eye. A Category 4 Hurricane, Hugo in 1989 went to Carolina. Hurricanes produce a tornado.

Hurricanes By Ryann 256 people have been killed by Hurricane Camille. When Hurricane Andrew came through he caused $25 billion in damage. Meteorologists follow hurricanes by using radar.

Hurricanes By Sarah Millions of water droplets cover the Atlantic Ocean. The peace in the center of the hurricane will last for only a few minutes. Pale green clouds fill the sky.

Lightning By Michael Lightning is a very bright flash at night time. Lightning can hit the ground. Lightning is very, very hot.

Lightning By Haidyn Lightning is from electricity. Lightning moves at 60,000 miles each second. Sometimes lightning breaks into bolts.

Lightning By Logan As the electricity in the clouds becomes stronger, lightning flashes. Lines of lightning are called bolts. Stay indoors during a thunderstorm.

Lightning By Prestyn A loud crash means lightning is close. Many booms means lightning is far away. Storm clouds carry water droplets and ice crystals.

Rainbows By Aubrey Sometimes nature creates two rainbows. When there are double rainbows in the sky there is often a dark band between the two rainbows. In some African myths the rainbow was a giant snake that hunted after a rainfall.

Snow By Brynn Snowflakes mostly have six sides. Some snow is dry and soft. People make snowmen and snowballs out of it.

Snow By Jensen Snow is frozen water. Snowflakes mostly have six sides. Some snow is wet. Wet snow sometimes sticks together.

Sunlignt by Nixa The sun lights half of Earth at a time. When it s day on one side it s night on the other. As Earth spins, places move in and out of light. Sunlight is strongest at places near the equator. The sun shines directly down on this area. All the sunlight makes the air hot. The sun s rays hit Earth s poles at an angle. The weak sunlight doesn t warm the air as much. Ice and snow cover the poles all year.

Tornadoes By Savannah Sometimes tornadoes happen at sea. Tornadoes can flip houses upside down. Seeing tornadoes can be very exciting.

Tornadoes By William The tornadoes funnel is like a giant vacuum. Some times a tornadoes birth is a thunderstorm. A tornado is a powerful twisting wind and when it hits the ground it is even more powerful.

Twisters By Levi Tornados can go 300 miles per hour. The winds go faster and faster. Cows and horses got found in pools.

Wind By Dakota The wind makes the rain clouds move. The wind affects the weather. Storms like tornadoes cause a lot of damage.
