Biology Curriculum Map 2017-18 2 Weeks- Introduction to Biology: Scientific method, lab safety, organizing and analyzing data, and psuedoscience. This unit establishes the fundamental nature of scientific investigation that will be used in all NGSS throughout the year /Summative Chapter 1 3 Weeks-Biochemistry: Atoms (CHONPS), elements, molecules, compounds, macromolecules, enzymes, proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, lipids, chemical reactions, and water chemistry. 3 Weeks- Cell Structure and Function: organelles, diffusion, osmosis, active and passive transport, and homeostasis. 2nd Quarter Marking Period 3 Weeks - Mitosis, DNA HS-LS1-1, HS-LS1-4 Structure and Replication: : Cell division and growth, cell cycle, mitosis (PMAT) & cytokinesis, asexual reproduction, diploid (2n) cells.
