(a) Dengan menggunakan kaedah VSEPR, lukiskan 3 struktur yang munasabah untuk ClF 3. Using VSEPR, draw the 3 possible structures for ClF 3. (b) Lukiskan gambarajah Lewis untuk BrF 5 dan ICl 4 -. Certain lithium salts like LiBr is hydrated, while the corresponding sodium and potassium salts are generally anhydrous. Explain. (b) Jelaskan bagaimana hidroksida, nitrat, karbonat dan sulfat Kumpulan I adalah lebih stabil untuk unsur-unsur dibawah kumpulan ini. Give reason why hydroxide, nitrate, carbonate and sulfate of Group I are more stable for elements below the group. 2/6
Gas BeCl 2 berwujud sebagai monomer tetapi membentuk dimer dalam larutan dan mempunyai bentuk polimerik, [BeCl 2 ] n dalam bentuk pepejal. Berikan sebab bagi kelakuan ini dan jelaskan jenis ikatan dalam dimer ini. Gaseous BeCl 2 exists as a monomer but dimerized as it condenses into a liquid and has a polymerized form, [BeCl 2 ] n as in solid form. Give reasons for this behaviour and explain the type of bonding in the dimer. 3. Jelaskan untuk pemerhatian berikut: Explain the following observations: (i) Nitrogen membentuk pelbagai oksida berbanding dengan fosforus. Nitrogen forms a wide range of oxides as compared to phosphorus. (ii) Takat didih halida hidrogen : HF (20 o C), HCl (-85 o C), HBr (-67 o C) dan HI (-36 o C). Terangkan dengan ringkas variasi yang ditunjukkan. The variation observed for the boiling points of the hydrogen halides HF (20 o C), HCl (-85 o C), HBr (-67 o C) and HI (-36 o C). (iii) Sebatian PbCI 4 tak stabil jika dibandingkan dengan PbCI 2. PbCI 4 is an unstable compound when compared to PbCI 2. 3/6
