PC Based Thermal + Magnetic Trip Characterisitcs Test System for MCB PC BASED THERMAL + MAGNETIC TRIP CHARACTERISTIC S TEST SYSTEM FOR MCB The system essentially comprises of a single power source able to deliver either thermal or magnetic test parameters set on the PC by the user. Main Specs / Features at a glance: Input 230 V, 30 A (max), 3 phase, 50 Hz or as specifi ed in the purchase order such as 110V Covers the entire range of MCB from 0.5 A to 125 A: B, C, D curve Thermal Test: User can set up to 4 times the rated current of MCB which includes 1.13 times rated current, 1.45 times rated current and 2.55 times rated current. Magnetic Test: 0.5 125 A MCB: B,C,D curve Short time duty (about 100 ms) is 3000 A, which covers the max
2500 A (125 A MCB: 20 times rated current for D curve MCB) In short, ratings and parameters mentioned in table 7, IEC 60898 are covered and the user may go beyond the chart for other tripping values. The testing sequence (test procedure) & parameters in the software should be automatic as per the IEC 60898 specifi cations. Three samples can be tested for No Trip /Trip Test simultaneously (IEC 60898 clause 1.13, 1.45 test: The feature enables test engineers to compare various MCBs using the software) One sample at a time can be tested for magnetic test. For carrying- out short-circuit trip test: Specially designed Point-On-Wave switching technique (point on current waveform, on which current is applied, is at zero cross over) is used to get proper results. Change of test current after set time is automatic. Three time settings and respective three current settings possible. AUTO and MANUAL operative modes for non PC based operation. In manual mode, the user may use the system as a servo controlled constant current source to test various dummies or use it as a simple serve controlled source of 600 A continuous rating Precision True RMS sensing servo controller keeps the current within +/- 1%. Transient Recording Meter reads the instantaneous current and Trip time Current Transformer ranges 1A, 2A, 5A, 10A, 25A, 50A, 100A, 200A, 500A, 1000A, 2000A & 3000A selected automatically by the software on basis of chosen MCB rating Output Current Continuous rating between 1 A to 600 Amps
Short time up to 3000 Amps Micro Controller based unit & software controls the sequence of operation and measures time with 1 msec resolution (for magnetic / instantaneous tripping). Heavy Duty Contactors for internal switching as per PC based test sequence Separate three TIME INTERVAL METERS for each station. Swamping inductors for stable current. Elegant housing with extruded aluminum profi le PC Based (PC Operated) Test System with Software Interface: The system will be integrated with PC based test software for automatic operation & test sequence, with programmable test & MCB parameters, user access control & report generation. The user has to set the input parameters such as MCB rating, type of test (thermal or magnetic), test currents (trip and no trip current), test times, etc. and the test sequence is automatic. Mounting of MCBs on the test jigs has to be done manually. Once the MCBs are mounted on the panel, complete operation via PC is possible, including setting the test parameters, MCB ranges and CT links. The software will control the tests sequence in a stand alone manner. Wherever applicable the sequence will be automatic in accordance with IEC 60898 testing standard. There will be facility to program MCB ratings & current values as per the user specifi cation or any relevant standard for MCB apart from IEC 60898. The software will display all the test results such as exact trip time in seconds (milliseconds for magnetic testing), trip and no trip current will be stored and displayed for each station. The software will be able to graphically plot time current characteristics curve for both thermal and magnetic tests.
