Introduction of China University of Geosciences(Beijing) for International Students General Information China University of Geosciences(Beijing) is located on Xueyuan Road, Haidian District, surrounded with many prestige universities, was found in 1952. It is a national key university under the administration of the Ministry of Education of China. For more than 60 years, a discipline layout with stress on geosciences, resources, environment, geological engineering, incorporating science, engineering, humanities, management, administration, economics, law has been formed in China University of Geosciences(Beijing). It became the Chinese Government Scholarship universities with the authorization of the Ministry of Education of China in March 2006. It can accept international students who get the Chinese Government Scholarship. Chinese Language Program (0.5-2 years) 1.Teaching Hours and Activities for Chinese Language and Culture The program usually gives 20 hours instruction a week, 18 weeks each semester. Cultural visits such as trip to the Great Wall and student parties are also organized for long-term students. 2.Curriculum The Chinese Language courses generally include Pronunciation, Grammar, Conversation, Listening, Writing, Reading and Practical activities. The curriculum s breadth has met the special demands and interests of students, and students can choose specific classes as they see fit for their levels, such as Beginner, Fair, Good, Excellent. HSK training programs are available. In addition, CD Course, Chinese Computing Application, TV News Understanding, Tourist in Beijing, Chinese Film Appreciation, Social Visit and Topics on Social Customs are provided. 3.Time For A New Semester There are two academic semesters, spring semester & fall semester. The spring semester begins in March and the fall semester begins in September. 4.Appily Time All the applicants should submit their application forms to international cooperation office before the new semester begins. About Visas All applicants should submit all the application materials to international Cooperation Office. Then we can send the issued Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form) with our offer of admission to admitted students. Students may present this form to the nearest China Consulate to receive the X Student Visa. Documents for Applying 1. Non-degree courses (Chinese Language study) 1 Application form(can be downloaded from http://dept.cugb.edu.cn/ico ). 2 Academic diploma: a photocopy of the applicant s latest academic diploma or certificate of university education. 3 Academic record: The original transcript of academic record (A photocopy of the transcript will not do). 4 A photocopy of the applicant s passport; 5 A photocopy of the applicant s emergency contact (can be a passport, license, or other official ID). 6 10 two-inch white background colored-photographs after enrollment. 3. The applicant who is learning in other Chinese university should also provide: 1 A sealed transfer letter from the Foreign Students Office of the university. 2 A recommendation letter from the class teacher. 3 A photocopy of your visa or residence permit in China. * Those who are already in China, but not studying in a university, have to get information directly from CUGB when applying. 4.
