It is given to assess students knowledge of the unit standards. The teacher will orally read the questions to the students and they will follow along and mark their answers. Depending on the different writing abilities of students, the teacher may write student dictation for answers. Any student scoring an N or U should be retaught and reassessed. Teacher Directions: Prior to Assessment: 1. Duplicate Summative Assessment Two for each student. 2. Each student needs a pencil and a cover sheet. Day of Assessment: 1. Hand out assessments. 2. Put the assessment on the board or on an overhead, where all students can see you model what they are supposed to be doing. Read all directions and text to students to check for understanding. Then orally read each question and allow the students time to complete the task independently before going on to the next one. Give assistance so the student is being assessed on the standards and not his ability to read. 3. Read the words in the box to the students for #1-5. Student Directions: 1. Write your name on your paper. 2. Listen carefully while I read each question and explain what you are to do. We will do each one before we go onto the next question.
