It is largest body in our solar system. Eight planets follow paths around the sun called orbit around the sun.theeight planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Sun:: Sun is much hotter than any of eight planets. The sun is a star. It is a closest star to earth. The sun is the only object in our solar system to shine with its own light.the sun gives us heat, light and energy. It helps us to grow crops.

Mercury: Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Mercury gets very hot. Venus: Venus is the second planet from the sun. It is the closest planet to the earth. Earth: Earth is the third planet from the sun. Earth has a hard and rocky planet. There are high mountains valleys andvolcanoes. Earth is home for animals, humans and plants.because it has air to breathe and water and is warm enough for us to live. Mars:

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. Mars can get cold. Mars is also called the red planet. Jupiter: Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system. Saturn: Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. Saturn has rings in the solar system. Uranus:

Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. Uranus covered with clouds. The clouds look blue-green color. Neptune: Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun. The clouds look blue color. Directions Sun helps us in finding the directions. There are four main directions. They are East, West, North, South. The sun always rises in the east and sets in the west. East is in front of us. West is at our back. If you stretch both your arms, the left hand will point towards the north and the right hand will point towards the south. I. Fill in the blanks:

1. The Sun is a nearest star from the earth. 2. The Sun is the main source of each planet. 3. The Earth is made up of airand water. 4. Two-third of the Earth is covered with water. 5. The sun rises in the east. 6. The Sun sets in the west. 7. Left hand will point towards the north. 8. Right hand will point towards the south. 9. The moon is a natural satellite which moves around the earth. 10. Mercury is smallest planet in the solar system. II) Choose the best answer: 1.
