MONTHLY SYLLABUS SESSION--18 CLASS-VI SUBJECT : SCIENCE (PRATIBHA) MONTHS LESSON DETAILS ACTIVITIES April Lesson-2 Components of food Sources and functions of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. Test for the presence of protein, fat and starch. Balanced diet and diseases. 1. To identify food items rich in protein, fats and carbohydrates. 2. To test the presence of starch, fats or protein in the given food item. 3. To study the diseases caused due to the deficiency of various vitamins or minerals. May Lesson-3 Fibre to Fabric Different types of fibres : Natural and synthetic fibres, plant and animal fibres, yarn to fabric spinning of cotton yarn, knitting, history of clothing material. 1. To collect different pieces of cloth from a tailor s shop and group them as cotton, sick, wollen and synthetic. 2. To make a thread from cotton ball. 1

3. To demonstrate the weaving of cloth using coloured paper strips. July Lesson-5 Separation of substances Methods of separation handpicking, threshing, winnowing, sieving, sedimentation, decantation, filtration, evaporation, saturated and unsaturated solutions. 1. To handpick different items from a given mixture. 2. To prepare saturated solution of common salt. 3. To demonstrate the process of sedimentation, decantation and filtration. Lesson 13 Fun with Magnets Magnetic and non-magnetic materials, properties of magnet. To find N-S direction. Attraction and repulsion between magnets. 1. To study the properties of magnet. 2.
