Goals Maintain Enterprise/County-wide geo-database Increase spatial accuracy of data Build and acquire more data layers Increase use of GIS; as another tool to serve citizens (Jan. 31 2018 Municipal collaboration mtg.) Create a Public Interface via online GIS viewer Property users, developers, real estate, citizens, etc.

Guiding Principles-GIS Monroe A joint or cooperative arrangement-group ownership Share talent, technical know how & resources Enhance everyone s finished product via shared data/information and expertise Demonstrate to taxpayers/citizens=working together, cost effective, good governance

County Commitment Make available it s investment in GIS. Share all layers with all interested governmental partners Provide initial data storage capacity & security within current IT infrastructure Provide a training Center/Facility for groups Additional geographic features can be provided from local municipalities. Create GIS Governing Board and Technical Advisory group from municipalities/disciplines across the county.

Framework-GIS Monroe PURPOSE Strategic Vision/Partnership Long-Term Planning Funding/Cost Sharing Advocacy

Shared GIS-Benefits Reduced storage costs of hosting multiple copies of data Eliminate multiple agencies editing and maintaining duplicate copies of the same data Leads to better decisions as agencies work from official versions of authoritative data rather than multiple, unsynchronized, or inconsistent versions of data Provides online access to geographic information to public, private, and governmental entities-single point Provides users the ability to view other community s data within the county Example: Addressing and Street Naming, Assessing, Zoning

Online GIS Viewer An online GIS Viewer has been configured with customized applications for specific county departments. The goal is to extend this capability for a public facing GIS Viewer and extend the configured applications to Cities, Townships and Villages The public facing online viewer will provide a more transparent information resource for tax payers and encourage economic development in Monroe County enabling anyone with an internet connection to view the geographic data for Monroe County. The customized GIS applications will assist staff with efficiencies of time and effort Mobile applications can be developed so GIS can be used by staff that regularly conducts their work in the field Health Department Sanitarians, Assessors, Utility Workers, Building Inspectors, Emergency Management Damage Assessment, etc.
