IX. Calculation of Empirical Formula Experiment: Elemental Analysis gives %wt of elements Problem: Find the empirical formula for a compound containing: 11.19 %H and 88.89% O Step 1. Express the percent in grams g Assume 100 g of material. IF THE DATA IS ALREADY IN GRAMS GO TO STEP 2!!! Step 2. Change the grams into moles Step 3.
