Discuss the role of Doppler effect in the broadening of spectral linewidth (5 markah/marks) (b) Bincangkan peranan monokromator dan bagaimana ia berfungsi di dalam sebuah spektrometer. Jelaskan bagaimana resolusi sesebuah spektrometer itu boleh dipertingkatkan oleh monokromator. Discuss the role of a monochromator and how it functions in a typical absorption spectrometer set up. Describe how the resolution of the spectrometer could be increased by the monochromator. (10 markah/marks) (c) Suatu gas mengalami 3 x 10 9 perlanggaran sesaat. A gas molecule undergoes 3 x 10 9 collisions in a second. Explain why liquid and gas samples always give sharp NMR lines but solid samples give very broad NMR lines.
