Intrductin The, n-bard I/O mdule, is an internal peripheral fr use with the Mx-5000 range f fire alarm cntrl panels Each card prvides mnitring f up t 8 Radial, r 4 Lp, cnventinal zne circuits. Cards are prtcl Independent. Up t 6 cards may be cnnected t a panel, allwing fr an extra 8 cnventinal zne circuits, and 48 Outputs. Easily cnfigured with the PC Cnfiguratin Tl Can be set t Stand Alne mde and perate independently frm the Fire Panel; using the n-bard relays t reprt Fire, Fault & Earth Fault cnditins. General Installatin & Operatin. Mdule Overview The Mxp-56 Peripheral Zne card ffers 8 individually cnfigurable cnventinal zne circuits, and cnfigurable relay utputs; as well as including an Earth Mnitr circuit in the event that the card is munted remtely t its parent Fire Panel. With up t 6 cards supprted, this allws up t 8 cnventinal zne circuits and an extra 48 SELV relay utputs t be perated frm a single Fire Panel. Each Mxp-56 unit can be cnfigured t perate in either radial (class B) r ring (class A) mde. In radial (class B) mde: Up t 8 Cnventinal znes are supprted per card The EOL can be cnfigured t use a 6K8, 4K7 r K9 EOL (single setting fr all znes). Znes wrk with standard r Schttky dide bases. Cmplies with applicable standard EN54-. Can be cnfigured fr peratin with Intrinsically Safe znes In ring (class A) mde: Up t 4 Cnventinal znes are supprted per card Maximises cverage prtectin (in the event f zne faults). Cmplies with applicable standard EN54-. See Wiring Cnfiguratin fr further details. Cards are generally intended t wrk with an Mx5000 fire panel which is cmmnly referred t as wrking in Peripheral Bus mde; but can als be cnfigured t perate in a Stand Alne mde were cnnectin t a rd party panel is required. See Operating Mdes fr further details. In Peripheral Bus mde, zne behaviur and relay settings are individually cnfigured using the PC Cnfiguratin tl. See Card Cnfiguratin Setup fr further details. A dedicated Mnitr input is prvided t reprt faults back t the parent fire Panel when perating in PBUS mde. In Stand Alne mde this input is used t reset the card in rder t clear latched alarm cnditins. The Mxp-56 Peripheral Zne card makes use f Sftware Mnitring And Real Time Pwer Management techniques in rder t minimise pwer requirements under fault cnditins (such as shrt circuits acrss multiple znes), r when driving int Zne Circuits under Alarm cnditins. The result is lwer pwer requirements, and increased battery life. Requires an Exp-006 Active End f Line Mdule, sld separately. Requires an aprpriate barrier mdule. . Basic Cnfiguratin Each card cnnected t the 485 Cmmunicatin Line must have its wn address. This address shuld be set s that it matches the crrespnding card within the Advanced PC Cnfig Tl design. Cnfiguratin Defaults: - Earth Mnitr Disabled: This is the required cnditin if the card is expected t share a grund plane with the parent fire Panel, r any ther card which als prvides earth mnitring capabilities. Fr example, if multiple Zne cards are lcated in a remte enclsure, that requires earth mnitring; nly f the cards shuld be set t mnitring mde. Slide switch t the ON psitin t enable the earth mnitr circuit. - Radial (Class B) peratin. Slide switch t the ON psitin t put card int Lp (Class A) mde. - Stand Alne Mde. Slide PBUS switch t the ON psitin t enable Peripheral Bus Mde. In Peripheral Bus mde the card address is set using the Address switches (as depicted abve). In Stand Alne mde the address switches are used t cnfigure the EOL setting: Bit 0 Bit EOL Setting Off Off Default EOL (6K8) On Off 4K7 Off On K9 On On Nt Used (defaults t 6K8) Nte: Bits and current have n functin when perating in stand alne mde. www.advancedc.cm 5

Operating Mdes The Mxp-56 has peratin mdes: - Stand Alne Mde (DIP Switch Default): The card is cnnected t a rd party Fire Panel via vlt-free relay cnnectins The card uses fllwing default prcessing rules: In Class B: Zne ID Latching Alarm Verificatin Shrt is Fire I.S Mde 4 5 6 7 8 In Class A: Zne ID Latching Alarm Verificatin Shrt is Fire 4 Feature supprted n this zne I.S Mde Unused zne circuits shuld have EOLs fitted (r lp wiring if running in class A) in rder t avid incrrectly reprting faults. The n-bard relays are used t interface t the utside wrld and infrm external mnitring equipment f Fire (relay ), Fault (fail safe peratin) (relay ), and Earth (relay ) Fault cnditins. The signalling relays are glbal t all znes, s while a Fire r Fault can be reprted it cannt be tied-in t any ne particular zne circuit n the card. Therefre in stand alne mde nly ne zne circuit shuld be used fr detectin purpses, r cnversely all zne circuits n the card shuld be perating in the same physical detectin zne. - Peripheral Bus Mde:.. Mnitr The card requires an Mx5000 Fire Panel in rder t perate. In this mde the card prvides maximum flexibility, with the ability t cnfigure each zne independently via the Advanced Cnfiguratin tl. N need t fit EOLs (r lp wiring if running in Class A) n unused znes; unused znes are disabled by the Fire Panel t reduce current drain. Cnfigurable utputs (via Advanced Cnfiguratin tl) The behaviur f the Mnitr input changes depending n the run mde f the card. - In Stand Alne mde the input is used t issue the reset cmmand t the card - In Peripheral Bus mde the input acts as a mnitr. Adding a Card t the Design Expand the Panel (in the Site List ) and select the Peripheral Bus nde; this will bring up a list f available cards that can be cnnected t the peripheral bus in the Device Selectr. Unlike mst peripheral devices the PC4 is represented twice in the Device Selectr Select the desired peratin mde (Class A / B) and add it t the design. The device shuld be added t the same address as the ne set n the card. The selected peratin mde shuld match the mde set n the card; failure t d s will result in a type change errr being reprted against that card, after uplad.. Output Cnfiguratin Output cnfiguratin is perfrmed alng the same line as any ther utput device/pint. If the card is perating in stand-alne mde (but still present in the design, and cnnected t the peripheral bus) these utput settings will have n effect n the relay behaviur. www.advancedc.cm

Each Zne circuit can be individually cnfigured t treat shrt circuits as activating/qualifying cnditins; this is dne via the Shrt Circuit Qualifies Actin checkbx. Each Zne circuit can be individually cnfigured t perate in Intrinsically Safe mde; which is intended fr use nly with an apprpriate I.S Barrier and I.S. Devices. Each zne can be cnfigured fr Alarm Verificatin by setting the Cmfirmatin Filter ptin. T get this ptin the Cnfirmatin Filter must first be enabled under Panel Details General Optins Each Zne can be cnfigure fr Latching r nn latching peratin. Nn Latching znes will reassert an active cnditin 0 secnds after activatin.
