About the Symposium: The Symposium is intended to bring the global research and development community together at a common platform to disseminate the knowledge gained so far as well as to discuss about the future projections of the field. While this meet presents an excellent platform for the distinguished scientists, professors and technologists to discuss their findings and achievements along with the challenges currently faced, it proffers a valuable opportunity for young researchers to come and gain from their experience. The symposium will focus on the advances in nanomaterials and their technology with special attention to the applications of nanostructured materials in the technology. Workshop on Modeling and Simulations of Nanomaterials using VASP : Workshop on Modeling and Simulations of Nanomaterials using VASP aims to focus on learning the latest developments of high-throughput DFT level simulations with practical lectures and giving researchers the opportunity to exchange their experiences. Modeling and Simulation have become the de facto approach for studying the behavior of complex engineering systems before deployment in a real setting. Density Functional theory (DFT) is the most popular and successful quantum mechanical computational modeling tool used to investigate the structural, magnetic and electronic properties of any complex system. Today, modeling and simulation are greatly benefiting from the fast development in information technologies. The use of mathematical techniques in the development of computational analysis together with the High performance computational (HPC) processing power is making possible the simulation of any large intricate Nanoscale systems. The Workshop session intends the researcher and students to get familiar with the Vienna Ab initio Simulation Package (VASP), a well established computer programming package for atomic scale materials modeling and simulation. Training Topics: On Modeling of various nano structures using VESTA & CHEMCRAFT Use of Computational Simulation package (VASP). Setting Up the calculation using VASP tool and benchmarking the results. Quick start to obtain Ground state configuration of a model system using VASP Quick start to obtain Density of States and Band Structure calculation using VASP. Workshop on Synthesis and Nanomaterial Characterization: Nanomaterials play today one of the key roles in the development of technologies with high impact in modern and traditional industries. The workshop will provide a forum for presentation and discussion about synthesis of nanomaterials and advanced characterisations of nanomaterials. Also, participants will learn strategies and tips for preparing samples, setting up measurements, and designing multi-technique strategies to address characterization challenges for technologically relevant nanomaterial classes that cannot be solved with individual techniques. Training Topics: Synthesis of Nanomaterials using various techniques such as Sol-gel, Co-precipitation and Solid state synthesis. Characterization of synthesized nanomaterial using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Elemental composition by EDAX. Absorption studies by UV Visible Spectrophotometer with DRS, & Excitation and Emission spectra studies by Spectrofluorometer. Electrical properties of Semiconducting materials using Hall Effect measurements. Poster Presentation Students and Research Scholars will be presenting their research work.
