OHNO-TYPE IDENTITIES FOR MULTIPLE HARMONIC SUMS SHIN-ICHIRO SEKI AND SHUJI YAMAMOTO axiv:806.04785v [math.nt] Jun 08 Abstact. We establish Ohno-type identities fo multiple hamonic (-)sums which genealize Hoffman s identity and Badley s identity. Ou esult leads to a new poof of the Ohno-type elation fo A-finite multiple zeta values ecently poved by Hiose, Imatomi, Muahaa and Saito. As a futhe application, we give cetain sum fomulas fo A - o A 3 -finite multiple zeta values. m. Intoduction Let N be a positive intege. Eule [5] poved the following identity fo the N-th hamonic numbe: N ( ) m N N m m n. () It is known today that thee ae vaious genealizations of Eule s identity. We call a tuple of positive integes an index. Fo an index k (k,...,k ), we define its Hoffman dual k by k : (,...,+,...,+,...,+,...,). }{{}}{{}}{{} k k k Let k (k,...,k ) and k (l,...,l s ). SHIN-ICHIRO SEKI AND SHUJI YAMAMOTO Afte Dilche [4] (the case ) and Podinge [] (the case s ), Badley [3] poved a -analog of Hoffman s identity () (k )m + +(k )m ( ) m m(m+) N m m N [m ] k [m ] k m n + +n s (3). [n ] l [n s ] ls n n s N The euality () o (3) is a kind of duality fo multiple hamonic (-)sums. Since the duality elations fo (-)multiple zeta values ae genealized to Ohno s elations ([9, ]), it is natual to ask whethe (and how) we can genealize () and (3) to Ohno-type identities. This uestion was consideed by Oyama [0] and moe ecently by Hiose, Imatomi, Muahaa and Saito [7]. Moe pecisely, they teated identities of the A-finite multiple zeta values, that is, conguences modulo pime numbes. In this aticle, we pove Ohno-type identities which genealize (3) (Theoem.) and () (Coollay.). We stess that ou fomulas ae tue identities, not conguences. This allows us to give, besides a new poof of Hiose-Imatomi-Muahaa-Saito s elation fo A-finite multiple zeta values, sum fomulas fo A - o A 3 -finite multiple zeta values, which ae conguences modulo suae o cube of pimes.. Main Results.. Ohno-type identity. Fo a tuple of non-negative integes e (e,...,e ), we define its weight wt(e) and depth dep(e) to be e + +e and, espectively. Let J e, be the set of all tuples of non-negative integes e such that wt(e) e, dep(e), and set J, : e0 J e,. Fo e,e J,, e +e denotes the entywise sum. Similaly, let I k, be the set of all indices k such that wt(k) k, dep(k), and set I, : k0 I k,. By convention, I,0 { } is the set consisting only of the empty index. Fo k (k,...,k ) I, and e (e,...,e ) J,, put ( ki +e i +δ i +δ i b(k;e) : whee δ ij is Konecke s delta. Hee, we use the convention that { e (e 0), e 0 (e > 0). i Fo a positive intege N, k (k,...,k ) I, and e (e,...,e ) J,, we define the multiple hamonic -sums HN (k;) and z N (k;e;) by HN (k )m + +(k )m (k;) : ( ) m m(m+) N zn (k;e;) : m m N m m N e i [m ] k [m ] k (e +)m + +(e +)m [m ] k +e [m ] k+e. ), m,
OHNO-TYPE IDENTITIES FOR MULTIPLE HARMONIC SUMS 3 We set zn (k;) : z N (k;{0} ;) and zn ( ;) :. Hee {a} means times epetition a,...,a of a. The fist main esult is the following: }{{} Theoem.. Let N be a positive intege, e a non-negative intege and k I, an index. Set s : dep(k ). Then we have e b(k;e)hn(k +e;) zn({} e j ;) zn(k ;e ;). (4) e J e, j0 e J j,s The case e 0 gives Badley s identity HN (k;) z N (k ;). We will pove (4) by using a cetain connected sum in 3, based on the same idea used in anothe pape of the authos [7]. This poof is new even if one specializes it to Hoffman s identity. Let HN (k) : lim H N (k;) ζn (k) : lim z N (k;) m m N m m N By taking the limit in (4), we obtain the following: ( ) m m k mk m k m k ( N m ),. (5) Coollay.. Let N be a positive intege, e a non-negative intege and k I, an index. Set s : dep(k ). Then we have e b(k;e)hn (k+e) ζn ({}e j ) ζn (k +e ). (6) e J e, j0 e J j,s The case e 0 gives Hoffman s identity HN (k) ζ N (k ). Fo an application of (6), we ecall A-finite multiple zeta values. Fist we define a Q-algeba A by / A : Z/pZ Z/pZ. p: pime p: pime Fo a positive intege N and an index k (k,...,k ) I,, we define a multiple hamonic sum ζ N (k) by ζ N (k) : m k m k m < <m N (compae with ζn (k) given in (5)). We set ζ N( ) ζn ( ) by convention. Then the A-finite multiple zeta values ζ A (k) and ζa (k) ae defined by ζ A (k) : ( ζ p (k) mod p ), p ζ A (k) : ( ζp (k) mod p) A. p Since ( ) m p m (mod p) holds fo any pime p geate than m, we have ( H p (k) mod p ) p ζ A (k).
4 SHIN-ICHIRO SEKI AND SHUJI YAMAMOTO Moeove, it is known that ζa ({}e ) 0 fo e > 0, while ζa ( ). Hence we obtain the following elation among A-finite multiple zeta values as a coollay of (6). Coollay.3 (Hiose-Imatomi-Muahaa-Saito [7]). Let e be a non-negative intege and k I, an index. Set s : dep(k ). Then we have b(k;e)ζa (k+e) ζa (k +e ). e J e, e J e,s.. Sum fomulas fo finite multiple zeta values. Befoe stating ou second main esult, let us ecall the sum fomulas fo A-finite multiple zeta values. Fist, it is easily seen that ζ A (k) ζa (k) 0, (7) k I k, k I k, but this is not an analog of the sum fomula fo the multiple zeta values [6], since the admissibility condition k is ignoed in (7). A moe pecise analog (and its genealization) is due to Saito-Wakabayashi [5]. Fo integes k, and i satisfying i < k, we put I k,,i : {(k,...,k ) I k, k i } and B p k : (B p k mod p) p A, whee B n denotes the n-th Seki-Benoulli numbe. Note that B p k 0 if k is even. Theoem.4 (Saito-Wakabayashi [5]). Let k, and i be integes satisfying i < k. Then, in the ing A, we have eualities { } k k ζ A (k) ( ) i +( ) Bp k i i k, k I k,,i { } k k (k) ( )i ( ) Bp k + i i k. k I k,,i ζ A In paticula, if k is even, we see that k I k,,i ζ A (k) k I k,,i ζ A (k) 0. (8) Ou aim is to lift the identities (7) and (8) in A, which epesent systems of conguences modulo (almost all) pimes p, to conguences modulo p o p 3, by using the identity (6). Let n be a positive intege. In accodance with [3, 6, ], we define a Q-algeba A n by / A n : Z/p n Z Z/p n Z p: pime p: pime and the A n -finite multiple zeta values ζ An (k) and ζ A n (k) by ζ An (k) : (ζ p (k) mod p n ) p, ζ A n (k) : (ζ p (k) mod p n ) p A n. We use the symbol B p k again to denote the element (B p k mod p n ) p of A n, and put p : (p mod p n ) p A n. Then ou second main esult is the following:
