Accreditatin Infrmatin The ISSP urges members wh have achieved significant success in the field t apply fr higher levels f membership in rder t enjy the fllwing benefits: - Bth Prfessinal members and Fellws f the Institute will receive a frmal Six Sigma qualificatin equivalent t a Level 7 Prgramme frm ILM. Until nw there has been n frmal qualificatin fr Six Sigma Black Belt r Master Black Belt. This is an pprtunity t prve the level achieved, n a natinal scale. Prfessinals and Fellws f the ISSP will als be entitled t have use f pst-nminal letters. - Fellws f the ISSP will be invited t participate in cnferences and events. There will als be the pprtunity t submit articles and research which will then be published n the website, as well as peer reviewing ther s wrk. It is a chance t shape the Six Sigma cmmunity whilst mnitring prgress and develpment within the field. Within this Accreditatin Pack yu will find infrmatin regarding bth exclusive levels f membership: Prfessinal and Fellws.
Accreditatin Prcess In rder t hld these prestigius statuses there is a strict prcess within the ISSP Accreditatin Unit. We have cndensed this int a simple step-by-step guide, as fllws: 1. Jin as a Member. All individuals must first jin the ISSP as a Member: the standard level f membership. The fee at this stage is cmpulsry. If the candidate is successful in their later applicatin fr Prfessinal r Fellwship status, the initial fee will be taken ff their payment. In rder t jin as a Member please visit www.isspr.c.uk 2. Sit the ISSP Exam. The ISSP has develped a 60 minute pen bk exam which can be accessed via the website. This test is designed fr members t prve they have the knwledge and understanding that is required t be a successful Black Belt/Master Black Belt. Please nte: The exam fr Prfessinals/Fellws is the same. The difference between the tw levels is measured by ther means, see belw. The exam is pen bk and multiple chice. The exam has a pass rate f 80%, and members wh are successful will be invited t the next stage. Members wh are unsuccessful are encuraged t re-sit the exam at a later date. There is n limit t the amunt f times a member can sit the nline exam. The ISSP is cmmitted t prviding supprt and feedback t thse initially unsuccessful t ensure they imprve and ultimately pass. 3. Submit Prtfli. This stage requires applicants t submit their Six Sigma prject wrk t be reviewed by the ISSP Bard. It is at this stage where Prfessinal applicants and Fellw applicants are separated. In rder t cntinue the prcess, applicants are nw required t submit a tp up fee f either 30 (Prfessinal) r 50 (Fellw), plus a 30 applicatin fee. These fees are nn-refundable regardless f the utcme f the applicatin. They can be submitted via cheque made ut t the Institute f Six Sigma Prfessinals. Prfessinal applicants are required t demnstrate skills, knwledge and experience in the fllwing areas: Applicants must have cmpleted at least 2 strategically significant business change prjects. Evidence required: Summary f 2 prjects in the last 18 mnths.
They must have mentred ther individuals within their imprvement prjects. Evidence required: Summary f mentring given, and references frm at least ne persn mentred. Cmpletin f frmal Black Belt training. Evidence required: Summary f curse utline and cpies f any certificates issued. Specifically the applicant must demnstrate examples where they: dealt with nn nrmal data in apprpriate circumstances. cmpleted measurement systems analysis t imprve cnfidence in data cllected. used hypthesis testing t identify change. used nn linear regressin t build accurate mdels f prcesses. cmpleted design f experiment studies t ptimise prcesses. Please nte: Evidence f the abve may be cvered by the required summary f tw recent prjects. If nt, additinal evidence shuld be submitted. Members applying fr Fellwship must prvide all f the abve, and in additin: Applicants must have develped significant business imprvement knwledge, skills and behaviurs in a variety f business imprvement disciplines, such as LEAN, Thery f Cnstraints, PRINCE2 etc. Evidence required: Summary f prjects and training certificates. Delivered training fr, and mentred, bth black and green belts within their rganisatin. Evidence required: Summary f training and mentring delivered, plus references frm thse mentred. Have gained at least 2 years industrial sectr experience at black belt level. Evidence required: Up t date CV. Have maintained bth a prfessinal and develpment recrd ver the past 2 years, examples include updating skills t meet the rapid advances f cmputer prcessing pwer t perfrm cmplex data analysis, attending netwrking and cnference events, witting research papers n six sigma tl develpment. Evidence required: CPD recrd. 4. Results sent t applicant. Successful applicants will be ntified via email within 14 days f receipt f the prtfli submissin. They will receive a cnfirmatin letter and their ISSP Certificate. Unsuccessful applicants will als be ntified via email within 14 days. They will be prvided with detailed feedback, including areas requiring imprvement, t enable them t
reapply and successfully achieve their desired level. Unsuccessful applicants wh reapply within ne year will nt be required t pay the applicatin and tp up fees again.

Affiliates will have access t all events at a discunted member rate, including sme that will be tailred fr rlling ut Six Sigma acrss a business. They will als have the pprtunity t cntribute t the netwrk, and ffer services t members, such as psting Six Sigma jb vacancies. Affiliates can als run events thrugh the ISSP fr their members f staff. Please cntact inf@isspr.c.uk fr mre details. - Member ( 59 Annual Fee)*. Individuals wh are qualified t Yellw r Green Belt standard can apply t becme Members. Hwever, it is nt essential t have any Six Sigma training at all, merely an interest in Six Sigma is sufficient. Members are entitled t attend events at a discunted rate and als will have full access t the Knwledge Centre, nline CPD (Cntinuus Prfessinal Develpment) facilities and jb listings. - Prfessinal ( 89 Annual Fee)* In rder t becme a Prfessinal member f the Institute f Six Sigma Prfessinals, individuals will be required t first jin as a Member and then t have their Six Sigma training and experience accredited by the ISSP. Details f the ISSP standards and the prcess t apply fr accreditatin can be fund in the resurce library. Prfessinal members f the rganisatin will have pprtunities t access the Knwledge Centre, the jb listings and gain further discunts n a wide range f events and services. They will als be able t use the nline CPD prgramme t enhance their knwledge and wrk their way twards Master Black Belt status. - Fellw ( 109 Annual Fee)* T becme a Fellw, individuals must be qualified Master Black Belts t ISSP Standard. In additin t benefiting frm the wide ranges f features that the ther levels f
membership have access t, Fellws will als have the pprtunity t cntribute t the Knwledge Centre; by writing and peer-reviewing articles, run events and be invited t guest-speak at cnferences. They can als mnitr their develpment with the nline CPD prgramme. Ptential Fellws must submit an additinal applicatin at either Member r Prfessinal stage and will be awarded the prestigius award shuld they meet the ISSP Fellw f Six Sigma Prfessinal standard. * All fees are subject t VAT.
Institute f Six Sigma Prfessinals Standards The ISSP define a Yellw Belt as an individual wh has a gd understanding f Six Sigma; it is general awareness that is useful fr thse wh are nt directly invlved but will be supprting, spnsring and resurcing Six Sigma prjects. Yellw Belt qualified individuals shuld understand the fllwing: The principles and imprtance f business imprvement. The DMAIC prcess as an imprvement and prject management mdel and the key activities required fr each stage. The imprtance f determining the vice f the custmer and defining value in terms f custmer requirements. The basics f measuring and analysing perfrmance, thrugh key perfrmance indicatrs and simple statistics. The identificatin and evaluatin f slutins. The best methds t established nging prcess cntrl and imprvement thrugh Standardisatin. A typical Yellw Belt prgramme: Study time: 1-2 days, with n frmal assessment. The ISSP define a Green Belt qualified individual as smene wh is able t slve technical and challenging prblems thrugh the Six Sigma methd. Individuals will be able t understand: The principles f Six Sigma and hw it can be used as a pwerful business imprvement tl. The tls and techniques needed t analysis a value chain, and subsequent prcess maps. Hw t use the 7 Quality Tls t challenge and imprve the status qu. The cncepts needed t make change stick. The pwer f sftware t simulate prcesses and imprvement pprtunities. Basic well knwn Six Sigma statistical tls such as hypthesis testing, linear regressin and simple full factrial design f experiments (DE). A typical Green Belt prgramme: Study time: 5 8 days in the class rm, plus a minimum f 3 supprt and mentring days frm a Black Belt. Assessment wuld be thrugh a prject, lasting n mre than 3 mnths and deliver significant business imprvement.
Bth Yellw Belt and Green Belt trained individuals are entitled t jin the Institute f Six Sigma Prfessinals (ISSP) as a Member. A qualified Black Belt, as defined by ISSP, will nt nly knw the tpics listed abve and be able t apply Six Sigma, but will als be able t manipulate the methds in rder t be successful in different circumstances. Individuals with this level f knwledge will be able t select the mst apprpriate methd depending n the situatin. They will be able t generate innvative and creative ways t slve cmplex challenges. Specifically they will need t understand everything at Green Belt standard, and: The DMAIC prcess and Six Sigma verview. Prject selectin & management. Defining the prblem. Vice f the custmer, with stakehlder analysis. Advanced prcess mapping, X s & Y s, C/E matrix and basic statistics. Use statistical sftware such as Minitab. Data cllectin & sampling strategies. Advanced prcess capability studies, nn nrmal capability studies, DPMO/PPM/Yield and Z scres. Measurement systems analysis, Gauge R&R, bias and linearity. Measuring the cst f pr quality. Hypthesis testing nrmal and nn-nrmal, cntinuus and discrete data. Cnfidence intervals, crrelatin, nn linear regressin and nn linear regressin analysis and mdelling. Multi-variance studies. Advanced DE techniques, including Reverse DE. Evlutinary Operatin and Respnse Surface Methdlgy. FMEA, Frce Field Analysis, JIT and Lean Thinking. Mistake Prfing. Advance prcess stability and cntrl charting. Statistical prcess cntrl/nn nrmal SPC charting. A typical Black Belt prgramme: Study time: 20 25 days in the class rm, plus a minimum f 6 supprt and mentring days frm a Master Black Belt. Assessment wuld be thrugh a minimum f 2
strategically imprtant prjects, each lasting n mre than 6 mnths and delivering significant business imprvement. Individuals wh meet the abve criteria may apply t becme a Prfessinal member f the Institute f Six Sigma Prfessinals after passing an nline exam with a minimum mark f 80% and prviding a prtfli f evidence t the ISSP accreditatin unit. If a ptential member has been n a Black Belt curse but nt within ISSP standards, they will be asked t cmplete a CPD prgramme t meet the requirements befre they are granted Prfessinal status. The final level f Six Sigma is a Master Black Belt. ISSP characterises this as an individual wh, after gaining Black Belt status, has: Evidence f cntinuus persnal develpment. They shuld be able t shw they have had at least tw years experience f cntinuus prject wrk. They shuld als be seen t be attending cnferences and seminars t cntinually develp their skills within the Six Sigma field. Mentred and supprted Yellw, Green and Black Belts within their rganisatins and/r cnsultancy prjects. Been invlved with the training, r at least the steering f training, f lwer levels. Have significant sectr experience within their chsen field. In rder t becme a Fellw f the Institute f Six Sigma Prfessinals, an individual must g thrugh the ISSP Accreditatin Unit.. They will need t prve they have develped a discipline and practice in the field, and pushed bundaries within Six Sigma. Essentially, they shuld be ambassadrs fr the subject within their sectr r rganisatin, fr example, written articles r bks, given speechs etc. They shuld als be able t prvide a Persnal Develpment Recrd prving their knwledge, achievements and imprvements ver many years. They will have t pass an nline exam as part f their prfessinal accreditatin, with a minimum mark f 80% and prvide an prtfli f evidence. Prfessinals and Fellws f the Institute will receive frmal awards accredited by the ISSP and will therefre require frmal applicatin t the accreditatin unit.
