3. Getting started 3.1 Unpacking Remve packing materials carefully, and retain fr future shipment r strage f the unit. 3.2 set includes:...1 piece Platfrm PRS-26...1 piece External pwer supply...1 piece ; Certificate...1 cpy Optinal accessries: platfrm PRS-5-12...n request platfrm PRS-10...n request platfrm PRSC-22...n request platfrm PRSC-10...n request 3.3 Set up: Place the unit n the hrizntal even wrking surface. Plug the external pwer supply unit int the 12 V scket at the rear side f the unit. 3.4 Platfrm replacement: Screw ut tw fixing screws n the platfrm. Replace the platfrm and install the new platfrm securing it with the screws. Fix the screw tightly. 3.5 Principle peratin The principle f peratin f the PTR-35 is based n the creatin f rtatinal mvement f the platfrm in the vertical plane prviding effective mixing f bilgical liquids in tubes r micrplates. The cntrl keys n the frnt panel prvide prgram setting and peratin cntrl. Versin 3.01 - January 2012 Page 6

3.6 The three types f mtin 3.6.1 The PTR-35 prvides 3 types f mtin, which can be used separately (except fr vibratin mde, which wrks in cnjunctin with reciprcal mtin mde) and cnsecutively in a cycle: Rtating mtin (Orbital) Simple even circular mtin - cmmn type f mtin used in Rtatrs. Adjustable speed frm 1 t 100 RPM. Reciprcating Rtating mtin (Reciprcal) Vertical rtatin with changing directin f rtatin. Adjustable turning angle (frm 1 t 90, increments f 1 ) sets the limits fr this type f mtin. The speed is the same as set fr rtatinal mtin frm the vertical plane (frm 1 t 100 RPM). In this type f mtin there is a pause functin (frm 1 t 5 secnds,in crement f 1 secnd), this can be set in the Vibratin/pause mde. Vibratin mtin (Vibr) Intensive mixing f samples at high speed with small amplitude requires a Vibrating mtin. The vibratin mde decreases adhesin f liquids t the tube surface, this is especially imprtant when using micr quantities when the sample weight may be equal t the surface adhesin frce. The chice f vibratin mde depends n a number f parameters, namely viscsity, surface adhesin, vlume and specific gravity f the bi-sample. Versin 3.01 - January 2012 Page 7

(hr:min) 1-90 0-5 0-24.00 1-5 RUN Select Run Stp Recmmendatin during peratin When lading use even number f tubes arranged symmetrically t the rtatin axis t give the unit even balance during peratin. 4.1 Cnnect the external pwer supply t the mains. 4.2 Place samples n the platfrm: Eppendrf tubes up t the end; vacutainers and tubes with caps - halfsize. 4.3 Set the apprpriate prgram and peratin time accrding t the methdical prescriptins (see 4.11). 4.4 Press Run/Stp key (u) t start the prgram. 4.5 The platfrm mtin begins and the crrespnding indicatin [RUN] (v) and the changing time values are displayed. 4.6 If the peratin time is nt set and the timer indicatr (w) shws [0:00], pressing Run\Stp key causes cntinuus peratin f the unit until the Run\Stp key is pressed again. 4.7 If the peratin time is set then the unit stps after the set time interval has elapsed, (flashing indicatin STOP n the display) and a sund signals the end f the peratin (press Run\Stp key t stp the signal). Versin 3.01 - January 2012 Page 8

4.8 Fr repeat peratin f the previus prgram press Run\Stp key. 4.9 If necessary the PTR-35 can be stpped at any time during peratin by pressing Run/Stp key. In this case platfrm mtin stps when the platfrm achieves hrizntal psitin. Pressing Run/Stp key again will start the prgram frm the beginning (cuntdwn timer will be restarted). Nte! A stepper mtr is used in this mdel. This allws the user t stp the platfrm with their hand fr a mment - withut causing damage t the unit. If the platfrm is stpped by hand during the peratin, the prgram is nt interrupted and the platfrm mtin is autmatically resumed after the platfrm is released. 4.10 Once yu have finished using the unit, unplug the external pwer supply frm the mains utlet t turn ff the unit. 4.11 Prgram setting 4.11.1 Press Select key ( x) t chse the parameter t change (the active parameter is flashing). Use and keys ( y) t set the necessary value (nte: if the key is pressed fr mre that 2 secnds the display changes quickly). 4.11.2 The prgram can als be changed during the peratin - the micrprcessr autmatically enters the last changes int the memry during the prgram peratin. 4.11.3 The cuntdwn timer is used t cntrl the peratin time. The timer can be set fr a perid frm 1 minute t 24 hurs (timer increment f 1 minute). 4.11.4 The examples belw shw separate mtin types and their available cmbinatins in cycles. Nte! When setting prgram parameters fr peratin with higher lads n PTR-35 please mind that the unit may nt perfrm at highest settings in reciprcal and vibratin mdes.
