Kent Ridge 1 The 1st commercial satellite mission made in Berlin
Kent Ridge 1 Mission Kent Ridge 1 is: a small satellite of National University of Singapore built around a capacity building program from BST launched in to NEqO on 16th December 2015 Main Payload: VNIR & SWIR Hyper Spectral
Satellite Bus
Bringing the Mission to the Launch Pad The (wise) Space Engineer says: Hardware needs to be ready for launch Software can be uploaded once in Orbit Documentation is done later Boundary Conditions KR1 had an aggressive schedule from the beginning Mission got more complex over time Launch date was fixed and could not be moved Very hard decisions were required to be made
And Lift-Off Boundary Conditions Chennai Airport was flooded Crews arrived via Taxi (from Bengalore) KR1 was the last to arrive on the launch pad Check-Out was done in 2 days Latest software updates Very professional teams from ISRO, Singapore and Berlin made it possible
Mission Timeline Dec. 2015 Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun from July LEOP LEOP T0+17h T0+14d Commission first signal received all subsystems confirmed working Regular Operation Commissioning -- strong ground interference of Singapore Harbour T0+3M upgraded ground station in place -- software uploads for OBC, ADCS, PCU and Payload T0+5M satellite autonomy and additional safety features uploaded T0+6M full operational capability of KR1 is achieved -- 1 GB image data of all 3 cameras per day -- Regular Operation T0+7M Satellite is handed over to NUS Current NUS conducts operations with the experimental satellite
