Introduction to Precalculus 2004 by Roland E. Larson and Robert P. Hostetler Precalculus thoroughly explores topics in algebra, trigonometry, and analytic geometry, and all the examples, applications, and exercises have been selected for their relevance to calculus. The trigonometric functions are introduced first in terms of the unit circle approach and then using right triangles. Precalculus includes over 6,000 exercises that accommodate a variety of teaching and learning styles, plus a number of contemporary, real-life applications. The text features study guides for each chapter, section objectives that outline the main concepts, examples that show the real-life relevance of mathematical concepts, and concise chapter summaries. Special Features P.S. Problem Solving a set of challenging exercises at the end of each chapter. These interesting problems not only draw upon and extend the chapter concepts, but they also allude to concepts that will be discussed in subsequent chapters.
