Preface Due to the highly successful first Special Bulletin on Petroleum Geology in November 1985 and the equally encouraging response of 13 papers submitted for publication from the Society's Petroleum Geology Seminar 1985, the Society is well on its way of achieving its aim of bringing out one special Bulletin on Petroleum Geology each year in time for the Society's Annual Petroleum Geology Seminars. The preparation ofthis Special Issue on Petroleum Geology Volume II is made possible through the sacrifice of the many authors, who, despite their heavy workload and various other commitments, have managed to prepare their worthy manuscripts for publication here. It is hoped that these Special Issues on Petroleum Geology will help in correcting the dearth of geologic information on offshore Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak and perhaps help geologists working in these regions in the better understanding and interpretation of their data that might lead to further discoveries of oil and gas fields. The Society expresses its gratitude to the various oil companies, service organisations and universities for allowing their personnel concerned the time and support to prepare their papers and also to PETRONAS for the excellent cooperation and the release of papers that required their approval. The prompt reviews by those concerned are also greatly appreciated. In addition, the Society records its thanks to the many donors for their valuable financial contributions to the Society's Publication Fund and the running of the Annual Petroleum Geology Seminars.
