Would He walk house to house with you and your demonic dressed children for candy? Would He get the Ouija board out with you? Would He sit next to you on the couch and watch a scary movie? 10 Reasons Christians Shouldn t Celebrate Halloween 1. Halloween celebrates death, fear, horror, evil, the devil, and the occult. There is no Christian significance to be found in Halloween. Luke 20:38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. Psalms 27:1 The LORD [is] my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD [is] the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Proverbs 8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. 2. Most people follow the crowd. Especially when it promotes excitement that feed the lust for the forbidden thrills of our flesh. So if the crowd promotes Halloween Christians just join in too! Hollywood, the media, video games, and music have all opened our minds and lives daily to death, horror, violence, and evil. As we become desensitized to the occult, violence, and, horror. The evil and darkness around us continues to wax worse and worse. Halloween celebrates this evil. We think Halloween is just innocent entertainment but it is not. Its symbols and practices give new life unto dark rituals, and symbols from the past. 1

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death. 3. God hates pagan practices. He speaks this clearly in His Word. He says that they are an abomination and those who indulge in them are detestable. We are to have no fellowship with them but rather shun them away. He did not just mention this once. There are repeated warnings of this in the Old and New Testament so there is no excuse to continue in them. Ephesians 5:11-12 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things [are] an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 4. Witchcraft and sorcery are sinful. The Holy Ghost includes witchcraft as one of the undeniable acts of our sinful nature together with idolatry, sexual immorality, drunkenness, and murder. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 5. Banned from heaven. The Lord is clear that those who indulge in the occult will not go to heaven. He tells us this in the book of Revelation. He lists those who practice sorcery amongst the damned and sexually immoral. Hell is real and there are people going there. If hell was for 1000 years it might be bearable but, it s not. It s for ETERNITY. We are talking 2

an eternity of fire, screaming, moaning, gnashing of teeth, and darkness that can be felt. It won t be a party place for you and all your buddies. If they are there they will be screaming in terror. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 22:15 For without [are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 6. Wizards, mediums, familiar spirits, fortune tellers, spiritists, astrologers, palm readers, horoscopes, tarot cards, séances, and Ouija boards. All are occult practitioners and occult practices that God detests. He wants no involvement in these things. No involvement means not participating in these things for entertainment which is more common around Halloween. Halloween is harmful because it lures people into the occult. Many children are introduced to occult practices at Halloween parties. People who would not otherwise get with the occult will experiment at Halloween parties with séances, Ouija boards, and levitation. It s at this time of the year that children are exposed to occultic horror movies on TV. After the first exposure to the occult, some children are attracted to the occult because of the power it offers them. This is especially true of children that are hurting and living in broken homes and looking for solutions and answers to the problems in their lives. Other things that lure children into the occult are heavy metal music, fantasy role playing games, horror movies, pornography, occult, satanic, and new age literature. Most people who play cards don't realize that our modern deck of 52 playing cards is derived from Tarot cards. In fact, the four suits correspond directly with the suits in a Tarot deck. 3

Why does the Lord deal so severely with people who participate in these occult practices? Because they lead souls away from the truth and into destruction. They entice people to sin in all sorts of ways. They are unholy and God calls us to be holy! As a Christian, when we chose to celebrate Halloween. We are enticing other Christians and even our own children to participate in darkness, evilness, and pagan ways and calling it entertainment we are exposing them to occult practices and not even thinking twice about it because of tradition. Friend, is your tradition worth your soul and your family s souls if it leads them down the wrong path later in life because you weren t clear in your examples? Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Deuteronomy 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (This includes Halloween, you don t get off the hook for the sake of tradition.) 4

You may pretend Halloween is only a harmless game for kids but in reality it only represents darkness, death, evil, witchcraft, Satanism, paganism, human sacrifice, demons, and murder. Did you know that October 31 st is considered by Satanists their most important day of the year? And in the name of our traditions we are honoring the devil by celebrating Halloween. 1 Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. Deuteronomy 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 8. Are ghosts real? What the world thinks of as ghosts are not the spirits of dead people but, rather EVIL, DEMONIC, spirits which we are warned about in the Bible. Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I [am] the LORD your God. Leviticus 20:27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood [shall be] upon them. 1 Chronicles 10:13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, [even] against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking [counsel] of [one that had] a familiar spirit, to enquire [of it]; 2 Kings 23:24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD. 5

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Familiar spirits and spirit guides are under the control of their master, Satan. They influence people to spread lies and deceit in order to destroy the kingdom of God. To knowingly open oneself to the work of demons is an evil and wicked thing. Some avenues through which demons or "familiar spirits" can gain entrance into a person's life are divination, transcendental meditation, visualization, necromancy, witchcraft, drugs, and alcohol. These are all activities that believers are exhorted to avoid. Instead, we are to be filled with the Holy Spirit. We are also to be on guard, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12). Friend, now knowing this, why would a Christian want to decorate their home with ghosts and other wickedness? Does God want you to dress your child up like an evil spirit? 9. Pastors overreacting to Halloween. The pastors of modern, New Age churches often endorse Halloween and their occultic practices as innocent things. How many times have your heard them say Halloween s about the kids or I don t see anything wrong about kids getting candy? The pastor s spirit is influenced by the spirit in his church, the spirit of rebellion, the spirit of anti-christ, another Jesus and another gospel. We must not just take man s word for it. We must open up our Bibles and read them so that we will know the truth and not be led astray. 1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 6

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 10. What we do in moderation our children will do in excess. Our parents tolerated innocent celebrations of Halloween and now our children and grandchildren are embracing hardcore satanic values and attitudes. Celebrating Halloween has made it easier for young people to accept occultic influences. Look around. Death, violence, and evil are portrayed everywhere in our society. From television, media, and internet we are bombarded with these dark images. People have an obsession with death, violence, and murder. This can be plainly seen by observing the way people dress in society. From dark hair and nails to black clothing with skulls, skeletons, and images of death. If you go to the library and browse the teen section, it is filled with nothing but books about vampires, werewolves, and witchcraft. The covers on these books are even occultic in nature. We have an obsession with video games that promote death like SlenderMan. This game alone is so demonic in nature that it has influenced many teens to kill others. With the influence of death all around us we have become desensitized to what abortion really is death, murder. Satanists see abortion as the highest level of human sacrifice to Satan and are known to be participants of this often. There is a darkness that can be felt. John 3:19-21 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 7

Follow The Example Do you think it s to hard to give up your Halloween traditions? Is your flesh ruling your spirit? Do you choose your emotional attachments and memories of this holiday over you and your family s salvation? Do you think God gives you a free pass to indulge in things He has prohibited? Even if it s just for one night? For entertainment or innocent fun? No, He doesn t compromise. Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform that which is good I find not. Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Friend, there were others before you that died to their flesh and worldly traditions and said No to occultic holidays and family traditions and got rid of all occultic/new Age things from their lives and homes. We are given an example of this in the Bible. If they had the courage to do it you can too. Acts 19:19-20 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed. (A piece of silver was a day s wages back then. To today s standards that would be up to half a million dollars.) Are you a true follower of Jesus Christ? Then skip Halloween this year and tell others to do the same. Don t give honor to the devil. Honor God instead by refusing to celebrate Halloween this year. The Lord Jesus wouldn t participate in this holiday s activities so why should you? Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 8
