Differentiate the three different types of rocks (igneous, metamorphic & sedimentary) based on physical characteristics. 2. Identify common minerals using physical characteristics and an identification key. 3. Read and interpret United States Geologic Survey (USGS) topographic maps. 4. Read and interpret United States Geologic Survey geologic maps. 5. Interpret USGS Soil Surveys and determine appropriate soils for various activities (construction, waste management, forestry, agriculture). 6. Determine appropriate erosion and sediment control best management practices for different site conditions. 7. Determine and identify specific stormwater control best management practices for different site conditions. 8. Predict groundwater flow direction based on water table level information. 9. Identify land use practices that can influence the quality of groundwater used as a drinking water source. 10. Measure various stream attributes and calculate discharge. 11.
