Name: _ HALLOWEEN Halloween is a celebration. It is on October 31. Halloween isn't a holiday but it is a very special day for children in Canada, the United States and some other countries around the world. Now, children from lots of different countries celebrate Halloween. Also, there are schools that celebrate Halloween. Most children love Halloween. They prepare this celebration some weeks before. They plan and decide their costumes. The most popular disguises are ghosts, monsters, princesses, bats or vampires. On Halloween, children dress up in costumes. Some children buy costumes but some children prepare the costumes with their parents. In the evening, when the children are disguised, they walk around the village, town or the neighbourhood. They go from door to door. They knock at the doors and say TRICK or TREAT. Neighbours give sweets and chocolates to the children. Children have bags to collect all the things. The most popular and famous symbol of Halloween is the Halloween pumpkin. It is also called Jack O' Lantern. On Halloween, there are lots of Jack O' Lanterns in the windows. 2

To prepare a Jack O' Lantern, children clean the inside of a pumpkin, cut the face and put a candle inside. Black and orange are the most traditional colours of Halloween. Also, people decorate their houses with the Halloween symbols like ghosts, vampires, black cats, witches, spiders and other horrible creatures. Happy Halloween! 3
