Figures 39101 & 39107 Grooved Butterfl Valve Flow Characteristics The uniqueness of the grooved valve begins with the spherical bore of the disc seat area which facilitates a constant disc to seat loading that maintains a leak tight stem seal regardless of disc position. Because seal force is constant throughout the full disc ccle, operating torques are kept low thus increasing valve life. The grooved butterfl valve is the grooved end valve with the lowest pressure loss. This is accomplished b combining the best features of ball valve and butterfl designs. Utilizing the spherical bore of a ball valve design enables the use of a thin profile disc with much narrower leading edges which, while providing a bubble tight seal affords the advantage of minimal flow turbulence through the valve. This reduces pressure loss and allows more precise flow control over a wider range of flow conditions and disc positions. Also designed with the contractor in mind, the valve bod is a rugged one-piece casting with integral mounting base for either manual operated or remote controlled actuation while providing room for vital pipe sstem insulation. The Shurjoint Model SJ-200 Butterfl Valve is a low profile, grooved-end butterfl valve designed for oil & gas, mining and other service applications. The Model SJ-200 features a full rubber lined bod with 316 stainless steel disc. Bar (200 psi) and provides efficient control of fluid in piping sstems. Flow can be from either direction and the valve ma be positioned in an orientation. It is recoended that for improved accurac, the valve is set to open 70%+. When maximum flow is known but a pressure drop through the balancing valve is unknown, select a balancing valve for a maximum pressure drop of 0.6m (2 ft.) water 0.06 Bar (0. psi) in the full open position as shown in the table to the right. Accurate flow measurement requires that the velocit distribution near the balancing valve remains constant, regardless of the total flow through the pipe. Visit www.grinnell.com for the nearest distributor. When placing an order, indicate the full product name. Use the worksheet shown below to specif information required for ordering expansion joints. Specif quantit, nominal pipe size, (ANSI or ), figure number (Figure 7550 Flexible Coupling), and tpe of gasket: Pipe Size 32 to 400 (1 1 4 to 16 ): Pipe Finish Black Galvanised Stainless Steel GRINNE Grooved Expansion Joints are customdesigned, thermal movement solutions that utilize the proven design characteristics of GRINNE Flexible Couplings. Expansion joints are designed to be used in both hot and cold applications. When pipe heats up, the expansion joint contracts to absorb the thermal expansion of the pipe. When pipe cools down, the expansion joint expands to absorb the thermal contraction of the pipe. The expansion joints are factor fabricated and calibrated to the specific thermal movement conditions of the piping runs. The joints are manufactured from machined grooved nipples and GRINNE Flexible Couplings, providing dependable, high pressure performance. Expansion Joints should be anchored and guided in accordance with standard industr practices. Refer to the appropriate coupling data sheet for pressure/temperature ratings and materials of construction. Nipples are manufactured from standard wall, A 53B black steel pipe.
