Manivannan, NIT-T Dr.S.Natarajan, NIT-T Since the invention of electron microscope in 1930s, it is widely used in biological, physical and chemical sciences for imaging, structure determination and elemental analysis. Recent developments and the consequent potential applications of nanomaterials for various devices have made electron microscopy a very important indispensable techniques/tool for not only scientists & researchers but also industrialists as well. The present workshop aims at exposing the researchers, young faculties and industrial personnel to the basics of imaging/diffraction principles of electron microscopy and advanced techniques like convergent beam diffraction, electron energy loss spectroscopy and so on. The workshop further includes demonstration of scanning and transmission electron microscopes with suitable samples. The registration fee is Rs.400/- to be paid at the venue, which includes study material, lunch & snacks. The number of participants is limited to 100. Limited accommodation is available at the hostels on payment basis. Interested participants may send a requisition letter duly recommended by their department/college/institute with full postal & e-mail address and mobile number before 25 th Oct.2011 to The Convener, Workshop on Electron Microscopy, Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli- 620 015. e-mail:emworkshop2011@gmail.com (For more details www.nitt.edu) Note: Interested participants are encouraged to present their research findings related to the present theme as posters. Best two posters will be selected for an award. NIT-T (formerly known as REC) is situated near Thuvakudi on the Tiruchirappalli Tanjore highway about 20 km from Tiruchirappalli railway station.
