Adopta Engage the public in the maintenance and operation of natural and man-made assets - People adopt assets via web app - Manage roster of adopted and available assets - Communicate with adopters via email when action is necessary - Adopters confirm when they have cared for an asset First release includes configurations for adoption of catch basins, fire hydrants and parks Can be set up for adoption of anything Potential users include local governments, utilities, civic organizations, nature groups and schools http://solutions.arcgis.com/local-government/help/adopta/
Parcel Drafter Enter metes-and-bounds descriptions in a web app and check for closure errors Useful to verify deeds and recorded documents Data entered into Parcel Drafter can be saved as part of a larger land records workflow Potential users include Assessing Office, Registers of Deeds, surveyors and title companies http://solutions.arcgis.com/local-government/help/parcel-drafter/
35 Feature Layer Templates Added to ArcGIS Online Organized by Industry Groupings Streamlines creation of hosted feature layers for popular ArcGIS for Electric, Gas, Telecom & Water apps
ArcGIS for Electric, Gas and Water Layer Catalogs Use the Layer Catalogs to speed up an ArcGIS for Electric, Gas or Water implementation and quickly populate a mapping portal Create new services by copying feature layer definitions and attribute fields from a Layer Catalog http://solutions.arcgis.com/shared/help/layer-catalog/

Blueprint for Hydropower Assessments Worldwide USGS and the Department of Energy developed a small-hydropower assessment atlas in 2006 for the US Adapted methodology for hydro power assessments in Latin America using 30-meter data - was used for Sao Paulo State, Peru and Bolivia by CAF
Data Requirements Global Digital Elevation Model (DEM) Global stream flow data Global precipitation data (optional) Drainage network (Streams) Ancillary data: - Atlas of the existing hydroelectric power plants - Coverage of protected areas - Electric grid Global datasets needed for this type of study are available and can be used for most regions of the World
Summary of the Methodology Active Active Source: USGS/EROS
Summary of Hydro Power Assessment Results Sao Paulo State, Brazil Source: USGS/EROS and CAF Study revealed that available hydropower in the state of Sao Paulo was 10 times greater than originally estimated using non-gis methods
Web Maps and apps provide viewing and analysis tools
General approach Utilize - Complete local/country/regional assessment - Jumpstart engagement to teach methodology to national energy agencies with existing GIS capacity: one week - Focused hydro assessment apps. for national/local agencies CAF has invested ~2MM$ in similar assessments in Latin America, government partners have put an additional ~2MM$ Esri GIS technology and the global data to do this type of assessment anywhere in the World in a short time frame Add value to existing or new hydro projects: ArcHydro model, faster turn-around, cloud managed services, ArcGIS platform.
