SPECIFICATIONS DETAILS The waterproofing specifications are to be read in conjunction with the Architects waterproofing tender documentation package, which include plans and detail sections for all areas and elements to the above mentioned project which is to receive waterproofing. a. PROTASEAL WATERPROOFING SYSTEM:- Specification for working with Planters areas to be roller applied and sealed with a low viscosity, UV resistant, blue-violet, two component reactive resin based on methyl methacrylate (MMA). The surface of the screed is to be mechanically abraded or grit blasted to remove any laitance or other surface contamination likely to affect the adhesion of the coating. The joint of the screed at the perimeter walls and other vertical details to be filled with Protadeck A Joint Sealer and a continuous 50mm x 50mm fillet inserted at perimeter. Expansion joints to be formed and filled with Protadeck A Joint Sealer at the abutment of each slab if applicable. Any defects in the substrate are to be patched and or repaired, 1% / m2 patching has been allowed for within the price. The Planter to be primed at a nominal thickness of 0.3mm. Protaseal waterproofing coat will be roller applied to a nominal thickness of 1mm over the area of programmed work. The Protaseal is to extend up the full extent of vertical surfaces to housings and other vertical surfaces Protaseal RX-Sealer GP(H) to be applied by roller over the Protadeck at a nominal thickness of 0.3mm. FOOD SAFE SPECIFICATION):- Specification for working with Kitchen Floors areas to be screed applied and sealed RX Foodsafe Resin System. The area to be treated should be thoroughly cleaned and degreased, using a dilute solution of our R.X- Chloravail. All loose grout should be removed from the areas in question. The tiles should now be deglazed, using a hand held diamond headed grinder, which will provide a proper key for the priming system to bond to. Any lose tiles should be removed; the exposed area should now be filled using our RX F.S.L (MMA) Repair Mortar. Holes should be drilled into the grout lines at 500mm intervals; this will provide an anchoring system for the material. All termination points should be inserted, by saw cutting a 5-10mm line into the relevant areas. The prepared area should now be primed with a liberal coat of our RX- Primer GP; this should be allowed to cure for one hour before proceeding with step 8. A scrapper coat of resin should now be trowelled into the grout lines, until a smooth seamless surface is achieved. A 2mm layer of our Robex Paviour System may now be applied to the primed floor area, and whilst the resin is still wet a full broadcast of coloured quartz aggregate to match

T: +27 11 892 2604/2565/2570/3017 F: +27 11 917 1474 www.robex.co.za existing test patch should be applied until the complete area is covered, this should be permitted to cure (1hour) before removing the excess aggregates The aggregates should now be locked in place by the application of two RX-Sealer GP coats being applied at right angles to each other and allowing 1hour between coats and an additional hour before returning the areas to service. This will provide you with a finished system which is ideally suited to your application. e. PROTASEAL WATERPROOFING SYSTEM (INCLUDING NON SLIP):- Specification for working below Terrace decking areas to be roller applied and sealed with a low viscosity, UV resistant, blue-violet, two component reactive resin based on methyl methacrylate (MMA). The surface of the screed is to be mechanically abraded or grit blasted to remove any laitance or other surface contamination likely to affect the adhesion of the coating. The joint of the screed at the perimeter walls and other vertical details to be filled with Protadeck A Joint Sealer and a continuous 20mm x 20mm fillet inserted at perimeter. Expansion joints to be formed and filled with Protadeck A Joint Sealer at the abutment of each slab if applicable. Any defects in the substrate are to be patched and or repaired, 1% / m2 patching has been allowed for within the price. The Area to be primed at a nominal thickness of 0.3mm. Protadeck waterproofing coat will be roller applied to a nominal thickness of 1mm over the area of programmed work. The Protaseal is to extend up the full extent of vertical surfaces by 150mm Protaseal RX-Sealer GP(H) to be applied by roller over the Protadeck at a nominal thickness of 0.3mm. PROTADECK CAR PARK DECKING SYSTEM EXCLUDING FIBRE MEMBRANE Specification for working with Wheelchair Ramps areas to be sealed with a highly elastic heavy duty spray applied 100% seamless waterproofing membrane. The joint of the screed at the perimeter walls and other vertical details to be filled with Protadeck A Joint Sealer and a continuous 50mm x 50mm fillet inserted at perimeter. Expansion joints as per specified detail to be formed and filled with Protadeck joint sealer at the abutment of each slab. The surface of the concrete or screed to be mechanically abraded or grit blasted to remove any laitance or other surface contamination likely to affect the adhesion of the coating. Any defects in the concrete slab / deck are to be patched and or repaired, 1% / m2 patching has been allowed for within the price. The concrete or screed to be primed at a nominal thickness of 0.3mm. Protadeck waterproofing base coat will be spray applied to a nominal thickness of 1mm over the area of programmed work. The waterproofing coat is to extend up all vertical surfaces by 150mm. Protadeck body coat is to be spray applied over the base coat at a nominal thickness of 0.5mm to provide a holding coat for the aggregate used for the slip resistance. The excess aggregate is to be swept away and removed. Protaseal STC, the flexible sealer to be applied by roller at a nominal thickness of 0.3mm to seal the aggregate in place. Protaseal RX-Sealer GP(H), the harder sealer to be applied by roller at a nominal thickness of 0.3mm to provide resistance to wear from traffic. The aggregate is not to be applied to vertical surfaces and the finish will be a final coat of the sealer. The finished colour will be to Architects specification. Note concrete slabs to receive road markings over in similar product. h. PROTASEAL WATERPROOFING SYSTEM:- Specification for working with Lift Pit areas to be roller applied and sealed with a low viscosity, UV resistant, blue-violet, two component reactive resin based on methyl methacrylate (MMA). The surface of the screed is to be mechanically abraded or grit blasted to remove any laitance or other surface contamination likely to affect the adhesion of the coating.
