VOCABULARY Linear combinations A linear combination of two equations is an equation obtained by (1) multiplying one or both equations by a constant and (2) adding the resulting equations. SOLVING A LINEAR SYSTEM BY LINEAR COMBINATIONS Step 1 Arrange the equations with like terms in columns.
