Faricatd with a Sipx propritary icmos procss, oth products rquir a fraction of th powr of oldr ipolar dsigns. Th RS-485 standard is idal for multi-drop applications or for long-distanc intrfacs. RS-485 allows up to 32 drivrs and 32 rcivrs to connctd to a data us, making it an idal choic for multi-drop applications. Sinc th caling can as long as 4,000 ft, RS-485 transcivrs ar quippd with a wid (-7V to +12V) common mod rang to accommodat ground potntial diffrncs. caus RS-485 is a diffrntial intrfac, data is virtually immun to nois in th transmission lin. rivr... Th drivrs for oth th SP490 and SP491 hav diffrntial outputs. Th typical voltag output swing with no load will 0 volts to +5 volts. With worst cas loading of 54Ω across th diffrntial outputs, th drivr can maintain gratr than 1.5V voltag lvls. Th drivr of th SP491 has a drivr nal control lin which is activ high. logic high on (pin 4) of th SP491 will nal th diffrntial drivr outputs. logic low on (pin 4) of th SP491 will tri-stat th drivr outputs. Th SP490 dos not hav a drivr nal. Rcivr... Th rcivrs for oth th SP490 and SP491 hav diffrntial inputs with an input snsitivity as low as ±200mV. Input impdanc of th rcivrs is typically 15KΩ (12KΩ minimum). wid common mod rang of -7V to +12V allows for larg ground potntial diffrncs twn systms.
