UGC-SVU Centre For MST Radar Applications MST Radar, Lidar and other colocated facilities are established as a major National facility at Gadanki, 35 kilometers off Tirupati. The availability of such a front line, state of the art instrumentation in close proximity to S. V. University offers an excellent scope and opportunity for research in the area of Atmospheric Sciences. To make best use of these facilities, S. V. University has taken a lead role in creating UGC SVU Centre for MST Radar Applications devoted to atmospheric sciences. UGC SVU Centre provides all the support in formulating and conducting the experiments, data processing facility and data analysis and interpretation of the results. UGC SVU Centre in collaboration with National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL) formerly known as NMRF conducts winter schools, user scientists workshops, National/International conferences etc. UGC-SVU Centre provides travel assistance, literature support etc. UGC SVU Centre serves as a common platform for the University system in India for the exchange of scientific knowledge and with the following aims and objectives: UGC SVU Centre is accessible to scientists and researchers from Indian Universities working in the area of Atmospheric Sciences especially with reference to MST Radar related area. UGC SVU Centre provides necessary facilities for research and basic computational and other support for carrying out such research. UGC SVU Centre provides a forum for exchange visits in the area of Atmospheric Science so that the Indian Atmospheric Scientific Community will benefit from such co- operation. UGC SVU Centre helps in training postgraduate students and research fellows in a number of challenging tasks in the thrust areas of Atmospheric Physics. UGC SVU Centre helps in co-ordinating the experimental programme in the area of Atmospheric Dynamics using MST Radar and other collocatable instrumentation facilities with special reference to the location of these facilities.

UGC SVU Centre organizes a comprehensive National data bank/archivals in specified areas of Atmospheric Sciences especially out of the large volume of processed data obtained from MST Radar and other collocated facilities. UGC SVU Centre helps in the generation and updating models for the middle atmosphere over Indian latitudes. Use of such models and data in turn will help in forecasting and prediction by IMD and other concerned national organizations. Workshops / Conferences organized 1.
