WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY BOARD OF GOVERNORS April 4, 2006 The fortieth meeting of the West Virginia University Board of Governors was held on April 4, 2006, via telephone in Morgantown, W.V. Board members in attendance in person or by phone were Hank Barnette, Joe Campbell, Betty Chilton, Tom Clark, Steve Farmer, Steve Goodwin, Russ Isaacs, Michael Lastinger, Mark Manchin, Paul Martinelli, Ted Mattern, Parry Petroplus, and Robert Wells. D. J. Casto, Tom Dover, Doug Leech, and Rod Thorn were absent and excused. BOARD ITEMS Provost Jerry Lang explained that this meeting was needed in order to meet deadlines at the Higher Education Policy Commission and the Community & Technical College Council for submission of proposed Tuition and Fee Schedules for West Virginia University Institute of Technology; the Community & Technical College at West Virginia University Institute of April 4, 2005

Technology and West Virginia University at Parkersburg. The Tuition and Fee Schedule for West Virginia University and Potomac State College of West Virginia University will be presented at the April 21, 2006 meeting, as they do not have the same deadlines. Dr. Lang reviewed each of the proposed Tuition and Fee Schedules, allowing for questions and comments from Board members and Institutional Presidents. He also noted that the Schedules are subject to final approval from the HEPC or the Council. Mr. Barnette moved that the fee schedules be approved as proposed. The motion was seconded, and the vote was unanimous. The fee schedules are approved. They will be forwarded to the Higher Education Policy Commission and the Community & Technical College Council, as appropriate. They are also appended to these minutes. NEXT MEETING Mr. Goodwin noted that the next meeting is scheduled for April 20-21, 2006 in Morgantown. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:40 a.m. Elizabeth E.
