It is a cmprehensive ne semester curse fr students requiring nly ne semester f general chemistry. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME Upn cmpletin, the student shuld have a fundamental understanding f general chemistry and be able t: demnstrate their knwledge f the principles f general chemistry and their applicability, explain the atmic structure, recgnize the difference between inic and cvalent cmpunds, write the names and frmulas f cmpunds, describe the prperties f gases, as well as the relatinships between gas pressure, vlume, and temperature, and perfrm related calculatins. write and balance chemical equatins, explain the difference between slutins, cllids, and suspensin, define and calculate cncentratin, identify buffers, acids, and bases, and define and calculate ph given relevant infrmatin. F. Nifiatis / pg 1f 5

SUNY Plattsburgh expects students t be hnest and t cnduct themselves with integrity in all aspects f their relatinship with the cllege (e.g., applicatin, transfer evaluatin, academic prgress review, and credit and nn-credit bearing experiences, including regular curse wrk, independent studies, internships, student teaching, and interactins with faculty, staff, and students). Academic dishnesty adversely affects the educatinal functin f the cllege and undermines the integrity f its prgrams. Dishnest cnduct includes, but is nt limited t, cheating, plagiarism, unauthrized cllabratin, frgery, and alteratin f recrds, alng with any lying, deceit, bribery, cercin, r intimidatin fr the purpse f influencing a grade r fr any ther academic gain. Actin against a student determined t have vilated the academic hnesty plicy can range frm a reductin f the grade n an assignment, thrugh failure f a curse, t suspensin r even dismissal frm the academic prgram, the department, r the cllege.
